“What’s going on here? What are you trying to pull? You’re not involved in human trafficking, are you?”
The middle–aged woman was petrified with fear, barely able to stammer a response. “I–I’m warning you, my husband is the head of our village production team. If anything happens to me, he’ll send a search party!”
Helena scoffed dismissively, turning her attention back to Summer.
Her tone softened. “Summer, go ahead and do what you need to do. I’ve got your back.”
Normally, such behavior might be considered too aggressive for a child, potentially leading to trouble. However, Helena saw Summer’s actions as justified, feeling an inexplicable trust and protectiveness toward her.
Empowered by her grandmother’s support, Summer’s eyes sparkled with determination. She firmly grasped the sweaty, chubby boy’s chin, urging sternly, “Eat!”
She shoved the bread forcefully into his mouth. As he glared back at her, his hand morphed into a claw, swinging toward her forehead.
Helena gasped, and just as she was instinctively moving to intervene, the middle–aged woman pulled out a dagger.
With a swift, threatening motion, she aimed the sharp blade at Helena’s chest.
Summer’s reaction was quick; her pupils dilated as she pushed the boy’s face down hard, using the force to spring up. The next thing they heard was a thud–the sound of a heavy fall. Summer leaped, her small legs landing on the middle–aged woman’s head with a fierce kick.
The impact seemed to send the woman into a daze, as if hallucinating. It was as if she heard her own skull crack and saw her own deceased grandmother waving through the train window.
Her last conscious thought was of her grandmother turning into a rolling pin that struck her forehead, plunging her into darkness.
Summer jumped down from the bed and quickly ran to Helena, asking worriedly, “Grandma?”
Helena had been shaken by the unexpected appearance of the dagger. If Summer had not reacted so quickly, she would have certainly been injured.
Helena, still reeling from the shock of the near–miss with the dagger, patted her forehead where she sweated. “I’m fine. Grandma’s okay!”
Relieved but vigilant, Summer inspected her grandmother for any injuries, then glared at the unconscious woman on the floor, scornfully declaring, “Bad!”
With that, she stomped on the woman’s hand–the same hand that had wielded the dagger

Just then, Jasper returned, accompanied by a police officer rushing into the carriage.

As he swung open the carriage door, Jasper was met with the sight of Summer’s foot firmly pressing down on the wrist of a middle–aged woman–the sound sharp enough to make anyone wince.
Jasper leaned forward slightly, shielding what was happening from the eyes behind him. “Mom, what happened?”
“I could have been killed just now, and you’re asking what’s wrong?”
Helena stepped forward, scooping Summer into her arms with a grave expression, turning to Jasper. “If Summer hadn’t noticed in time, you wouldn’t be callin
me mom now, you’d be at my
funeral!”
Jasper had initially intended to shield the scene to prevent the onlookers from seeing Summer’s actions. However, his mother’s words made him panic, and he rushed over to check on her.
“I survived the war only to almost be killed by this woman’s scheme!” Helena exclaimed angrily. “Jasper, you should find out who we’ve upset. This carriage doesn’t seem friendly at all.”
As Jasper stepped aside, the train attendant and police officer who were following him also. entered.
The small carriage was suddenly overcrowded, but they had no choice but to address the urgent situation. The attendant checked on the fainted chubby boy while the officer secured the unconscious woman.
Hearing Helena’s sharp comment, the attendant spoke up, “Madam, the child is innocent! The old woman confessed that she had been using him in her child abduction schemes. He was manipulated by traffickers and ended up listening to them!”
Then, the officer also chimed in, “Yes, Madam, and there’s also a man involved who is innocent!”
However, the man seemed hesitant to engage further, remaining in his bunk.
Helena noted the attendant’s sympathetic tone and the officer’s reassuring smile. She pondered. for a moment then gently nudged Summer. “Summer, do you want to go have a look?”
Distracted by counting her potential earnings, Summer looked up at Helena’s suggestion and nodded obediently.
She hopped down from Helena’s arms and approached the attendant, her sweet voice filling the air. “Miss!”
The attendant, caught off guard by the affectionate title from such a young voice, almost reached out to hug the girl despite the circumstances.
She blushed when Summer called her that as she was almost the same age as the unconscious middle–aged lady.

Puzzled, Summer tilted her head. She did not understand the attendant’s reaction but brushed off her confusion, focusing on the chubby boy instead.
She motioned for the attendant to move aside, then squatted in front of the boy.
Her small, slightly pale hands contrasted sharply with his plumper, fairer ones.
While normally people might pity Summer for her appearance, at that moment, there was no room for such thoughts amidst the chaos.
Watching in shock, they saw the girl, after examining the chubby boy’s fingernails, pull out several slender silver needles.
Helena, recalling the boy’s earlier attempt to hit Summer, quickly inspected her granddaughter. Did he try to hit you with this hand? Are you all right?”
Summer shook her head no and pointed to a nearby bed, hidden behind curtains and ominously quiet. “Medicine!”
Then, pointing at the chubby boy, she added, “Eat!”
Jasper, sensing something was off, swiftly pulled back the curtain to find the bespectacled man peacefully sleeping, a cloth resting near his mouth.
He checked for breath under the man’s nose, relieved to find him still breathing.
He was really concerned that his mother and Summer, in a moment of fervor, might inadvertently cause a fatality, which would indeed create complications.
“Bad!” Summer chimed in as Jasper revealed the scene. She climbed onto the bed, and mimed fainting with the cloth to her nose, tongue out, head askew, simulating unconsciousness.
She then pointed at the breads, wiped them with the handkerchief, and directed again at the chubby boy. “Eat!”
The attendant officer exchanged looks, bewildered. Eventually, the officer ventured, “Girl, are you saying you found these people to be criminals, so you took the drug from this man, laced the breads to sedate the chubby boy, and when this woman tried to attack your grandmother, you took her down yourself?”
Summer pondered, then shook her head in denial.
The attendant and officer exhaled in relief. Surely a child could not single–handedly manage three traffickers?
“Grandma hit!”
Helena interjected, “My granddaughter acted first to kick that woman, and I finished it with a blow.”
