Chapter 9
A piercing scream echoed through the villa.
Watching Kiana fall to the ground, screaming in pain while holding her leg, Ashlee’s mind went blank.
She paused for awhile before running downstairs, feeling her thumping heart.
Chace had already bearen him to it.
He didn’t know when he arrived, holding Kisna in his arms, with an undisguised pain on his face.
“Mr. Clements, I accidentally scared the kitten and it fell down the stairs and died. Ms. Padilla got very angry and not only slapped me but also pushed me off the balcony, demanding that I pay with my life for the kitten.”
Listening to her painful and choked account of the whole incident, Chace burned with anger, his forehead veins pulsating
He looked at Ashlee, who was running towards him, with a black face, without giving her any chance to explain.
“It’s just a cat, if it’s dead, it’s dead, Ashlen, why did you push someone off the balcony
On the way downstairs, Ashlee had imagined countless times what his reaction would be after hearing the lie Kiana had made up
Shocked or doubtful, but never thought that he would believe her words without hesitation.
In an instant, she felt her whole body’s blood tum cold, looking at him in disbelief.
She said I pushed her, and you believed it, right? Chace, we have known each other for so many years, is this the kind of person I am in your eyes?”
Chace really wanted to believe her, but looking at all the blood on the ground, he couldn’t calm down.
In the current situation, how can I believe you? Are you suggesting that she herself jumped down to defame you? Ashlee, how did you become like this? I no longer recognize you completely!
Upon hearing his reprimand, Ashlee couldn’t say a word.
She took a deep breath, walked up to him, and wanted to take out her phone to record and prove her innocence.
As soon as Kiana called out in pain, Chace lost all patience, pushed her away abruptly, and ran to the hospital carrying her
Ashlee fell headfirst into the lower bed, her forehead gushing with blood.
The crimson blood dripped down her cheeks, and she gasped in pain, feeling cold sweat breaking out on her body.
Watching his gradually disappearing figure, she covered her wound and a desperate and absund smile appeared on her face.
The sky gradually darkened, and she struggled to get up and tumed to the bedroom. She endured the pain and took the medicine, then bandaged the
In the following two days, Chace did not come back, nor did he call or send any messages to her
Kiana received many photos and videos every day of him taking care of her in the hospital, buying her various gifts, and coaxing her to take medicine.
Ashloe saved these records, along with all the messages she had previously sent, and that recording, into a USB drive
The day I left, it was sunny
She personally went to the immigration office and retrieved all the approved documents.
On the way back, Ashlee called Octavio and Yuliana and told them the time the plane landed.
Just as she pushed open the door, she saw Chace.
He still had that gloomy expression, staring at her for a long time before speaking coldly.
“Ashlee, when did you plan to apologize to my assistang?
Ashlee calmly met his gaze, her tone as still as a stagnant pool.
“I had no intention of doing so.”
Seeing her refusal to apologize, Chace’s expression grew colder, his voice tinged with hidden anger
“Okay, until you sincerely apologize, we don’t need to meet again.”

After saying that, he got into the car straight away without looking back again.
The friction sound of the vehicle starting completely masked Ashlee’s voice.
“We, indeed, would not see each other again.”
Watching his car drive away, Ashlee withdrew her gaze and quickly went upstairs.
She placed the USB flash drive and the pre–written sticky note saying “Let’s break up” together on the bedside table.
Later, she picked up the suitcase and left the villa.
The bright sunshine shone on her, warm
Before hoarding, she took one last look at the city she had lived in for over twenty years.
Goodbye.
To be precise, it was never seen again.
