His belated concern couldn’t dispel the chill in
my heart.
Hearing that he wanted to throw away our
baby, I flew over to stop him, but my body
passed right through the nurse.
L
Watching the baby being thrown into the
medical waste bin, I was powerless and could
only cry out silently in pain.
This was my baby, connected to me by blood.
How could Mark do this!
Hatred surged, my eyes bloodshot. I wished I
could tear him to pieces!

The doctor wanted to tell him the truth, but
Mark just waved him off. “It’s good that Emily’s surgery was successful. I’ll make up
for the suffering she endured today. You
don’t have to speak for her anymore. The
most important thing for you now is to ensure
the success of Sarah’s blood transfusion.”
He made the final decision, and the doctor
I had heard enough of his cold words and
wanted to leave, but for some reason, as
soon as I took two steps, I was bounced back
to his side.
After several attempts, I finally figured out the
pattern. I could only move within a three-
meter radius of Mark. Exceeding this distance
not only bounced me back but also caused
excruciating pain.
My face was already covered in tears of
blood.
I lamented the injustice of the world, but I
was powerless to resist.
“Don’t be afraid, Sarah. I’ll be with you.
always.”
<
Mark’s gentle voice pulled me back to reality.
I looked up and saw him bending down to kiss
Sarah.
That tender and affectionate look was
something I had never seen before.
Just as I was about to look away, a silver glint
reflected from Sarah’s hand.
Looking closely, I saw that what she was
wearing on her ring finger was my lost
wedding ring.
This pair of wedding rings was passed down
to me by Mark’s mother. She said it was a
Hamilton family heirloom.
<
I cherished it not only because of its value but
also because it symbolized the Hamilton
family’s recognition and appreciation of me.
But I only wore the ring for a month before
losing it.
I searched the whole house but couldn’t find
it, blaming myself and crying countless times.
Every time, Mark would comfort me, saying it
didn’t matter, and if I liked it, he would buy
me another one just like it.
Despite his words, he never really did.
Until today, when I found the ring on Sarah’s
hand, the mystery that had puzzled me was
finally solved.
く
The surgery was already underway, and Mark
held Sarah’s hand the entire time.
I walked to the opposite side of him and saw
that his eyes were red and filled with distress.
With him there, Sarah’s surgery ended
quickly.
The moment it ended, he finally couldn’t hold
back his tears any longer. “Sarah, I swear I’ll
never let you suffer again in this lifetime.”
His promise brought tears to Sarah’s eyes
too. Ignoring her weakened state, she
reached out, wanting him to hold her.
They embraced and kissed passionately.
I watched indifferently, without a ripple of

emotion.
After they separated, Mark noticed the
bruises on her arm where the blood had been
transfused.
Sarah pulled back her arm and pushed him
away. “Emily needs you more now. Go and
see her.”
Mark’s face turned cold, and he held her
tightly. “If she wasn’t so useless and couldn’t
keep herself healthy, you wouldn’t have had
to wait until now for a blood transfusion, and
you wouldn’t have such severe bruises! It’s all
her fault. Let her reflect on her own
mistakes!”
I looked at myself with a bitter smile.
L
My body was covered in bruises, not a single
spot of healthy skin.
Even so, Mark was still blaming me.
“But…”
Mark interrupted her, gently patting her back.
“Don’t worry. It’s all her fault! Besides, she’s
an Al robot. How would she know pain? Even
if she does, she’s just pretending!”
I couldn’t listen anymore and wanted to
escape from this place.
But the heart–wrenching pain made me
collapse to the ground.
