- 6.
Led by the janitor, Mark finally saw my body.
Under the white sheet, my face was already
badly decomposed, my body covered in cuts
and bruises, my pelvis wide open with a dried,
unknown organ still attached.
Smelling the stench, Mark dry heaved several
times.
“This is Mrs. Hamilton’s body. I saw how
tragic she was, and no one came to claim her
for several days, so I thought no one wanted
her. I temporarily placed her in this
abandoned morgue, afraid of scaring others.”
The janitor couldn’t bear to look at me and
sighed. “I was once helped by Mrs. Hamilton.
Such a good person…”
Mark’s eyes were bloodshot as he looked at
me in disbelief.
“Impossible! Are you in cahoots with them,
lying to me that Emily is dead?! This body’s
face is unrecognizable. How can you be sure
this is my wife?!”
In his heart, I was a modified Al robot, a
cockroach that couldn’t be killed.
How could I die?
Death could happen to anyone in the world,
NUL IIUL LU TIC:
“Mr. Hamilton, I’m an old man with one foot in
the grave. There’s no need for me to lie to
you.‘
Mark started trembling because of these
words. “Take the body back for examination! I
need to know if she is really Emily!”
Even though he had already seen the black
rose tattoo he personally gave me on my
shoulder and neck, he still refused to believe
that this was my body.
Mark steadied his breathing, trying to calm
himself down, and walked out.
It wasn’t until he left the morgue and stepped
into the sunlight that he collapsed, weak.
I walked in front of him, crouched down, and
clearly saw the sweat on his nose and his
slightly trembling body.
I sneered, “Do you, someone like you, also
know fear?”
Sarah’s personal nurse found him and
whispered, “Miss Collins’s condition has
stabilized for now. She will look for you when
she wakes up.”
Mark looked over mechanically, clenched his
fists, and swallowed.
“Take good care of her. I still have things to
do.”
I watched him stand up shakily and walk
く
towards my ward.
M
He squatted down and picked up my personal
belongings that he had thrown on the floor
earlier, one by one.
Seeing the fertility charm and the safety
charm I had gotten for him tucked away in my
wallet, Mark’s pupils shrank.
He put the two charms in his pocket,
muttering to himself, “Emily, my wife, I’ve
accepted the charms you got. Do you hear
me? I’ve accepted your feelings. Come back.
The doctor said you were pregnant. Our
family of three will live a good life from now
- on. I won’t force you to donate blood to Sarah
anymore. Wife, I know I was wrong. Come
back, let’s go home…”
<
Mark knelt down, tears streaming down his
face.
I stood in front of him, sneering, “Now you
know how to act affectionate? Why didn’t you
do this earlier?”
The biggest regret of my life was marrying
him.
Seeing his remorseful and dejected face, I felt
a little better.
A few days ago, I was still regretting not
bringing the baby into this world to take a
look.
Now I felt extremely fortunate.
Trash like Mark didn’t deserve to be my
baby’s father!
He didn’t deserve to be human!
