I clutched the urns tightly. Lily’s face went
pale. Seeing the urns were safe, she breathed
a sigh of relief.
Before she could yell, ten bodyguards barged in, grabbing Lily.
She screamed, but David muffled her cries, his eyes bloodshot.
Mark and David stood in the middle, Jessica behind them, wearing a mask.
Mark stepped over me, yelling his daughter’s
name. He kicked open every door, his
<
patience wearing thin. He knelt down and
grabbed my neck.
“Where is she? Let her come out!”
Looking at his furious face, I held the urns
tighter.
“I told you, you don’t deserve to mention my
daughter! Now get out of here with that
bitch!”
He was furious. His eyes were like poisoned
daggers.
“Watch your mouth, I wouldn’t mind teaching
you some manners!”
“You incited your daughter to do such a
vicious thing, and now you’re denying it? Have I been too kind to you?”
A bad feeling washed over me.
“What did my daughter do? What did your
lover
<
lover make my daughter do?”
I thought he came to apologize for my
daughter’s death. But reality slapped me in
the face!
Jessica walked closer, removing her mask. Her face was red and blotchy. Tears welled in her eyes. She looked at Mark.
“It’s okay, the kids probably didn’t know what
it was, it’s not like they did it on purpose…‘
Mark’s anger intensified.

Jessica, stop defending her! Lily incited the
kids to hurt you, you’re enabling her!”
I was shocked. Lily and I exchanged confused
glances.
David saw her calming down and released his
grip.
“You went too far! The kids are so young,
<
how could you teach them to hurt someone?
Using alcohol in skincare products… that’s
cruel!”
“Jessica only spent one night in the hospital,
and you did this? If she stayed longer, you
would have burned down her house!”
Lily yelled, “Bullshit!”
David stopped her, fearing she’d anger Mark.
Jessica’s tears flowed freely. She shook her
head and looked at me, “I know Lily hates
me, but you can’t corrupt the kids! They are
so young. I wouldn’t believe kids could do this if I hadn’t seen the security footage…”
“I know it wasn’t intentional, but they need to know what they did was wrong-”
Before she finished, I spat on her face. I held the urns tighter.
“Stop framing my daughter! Or don’t blame me for being rude! Are you this ruthless for power? I’ll give you this position!”
Mark was furious, kicking me in the stomach.
I cried out in pain, dropping the urns.
The lids came off, the ashes spilled onto the
ground.
I lost all feeling, seeing only the ash. My
scream echoed in the hallway.
Lily’s eyes widened, biting hard into David’s
hand.
He slapped her.
Ignoring the pain, I knelt, covering the ashes.
Lily crawled next to me. We both wailed.
“Get out! All of you!”
“Don’t touch my daughter!”
Mark ordered the bodyguards. They lifted Lily
and me. I stared at my daughter’s ashes, my
mouth moving, but no sound came out.
Mark whispered, “Where is she? Talk! This is
your last chance.”
“Do you think I’ll let you find her if I shut up?”
“Want a divorce? I’ll grant you one! You’ll never see your daughter again!”
My phone rang. It was the funeral home. Mark grabbed it and answered.
“Ms. Miller, your daughter’s funeral is about
to start. This slot was a last–minute
cancellation, so the deposit is non–refundable if you don’t arrive on time.”

The line went dead. Mark’s furious expression froze. He asked, “Who died? Who are you
burying?!”
<
“Where is my daughter?!”
His voice trembled slightly, close to breaking
down.
But I couldn’t hear him anymore.
