Chapter 5
I cut him off abruptly. “Where is my sapphire jewelry set? Did you give it to Faye?! Dominic, you know I rarely even wear it myself because it’s so precious to me!” When I mentioned the jewelry, Dominic’s voice immediately faltered. After a long pause, he said, “Faye mentioned she’d never seen such beautiful pieces before, so I let her choose a set to borrow. It’s not like you wear them much anyway. She’ll return everything after the ball…”
His shameless response made me shake with anger. I nearly dropped my phone. “Bring me my things back RIGHT NOW!”
I couldn’t wait another minute!
Hearing my anger, Dominic’s temper flared too. “Can’t you stop being so petty? It’s just jewelry! Haven’t I given you enough gifts over the years? Sienna Blake, if you keep making a scene, don’t blame me for ignoring you completely!”
Then he hung up.
Always the same threat. He was convinced I cared so much about him, so feared him ignoring me, that I’d tolerate anything.
In the past, if he didn’t come home for two days, I’d meekly go apologize to him, and he’d graciously “forgive” me enough to come home.
But now that I’d decided to break up with him, I wasn’t going to tolerate it
anymore.
Despite spending days in the hospital, I still looked exhausted, my eyes noticeably red. Looking in the mirror, I barely recognized myself. I used to be so vibrant and full of life. Now I looked like a stranger.
After changing clothes, I went to the college but couldn’t find Dominic and Faye in
the ballroom.
Then I suddenly thought of a place they might be.
I hurried in that direction, and as I approached the door, I heard Faye’s voice, filled with delight: “You’re amazing, Dominic! You play the piano so beautifully!”
I froze in the doorway.
Of course, Dominic had brought her there.
This had been our secret place. Whenever I felt sad, he would bring me here and

play the piano for me.
He had learned to play because of me. Now he was using the piano I bought him to play my favorite songs to make another girl happy..
I didn’t know how to describe what I was feeling. Am indescribable pain spread through my body, and my heart felt like it was being squeezed by a giant hand, making it hard to breathe.
Dominic’s voice was warm with affection: “Silly girl,, I’ll teach you how to play.” Faye’s voice took on a hint of sadness. “If Sienna fiinds out, she’ll be angry. You two just had a fight because of me. I don’t want to ruin your relationship.”
She sounded so pitiful, yet which of her actions hadn’t been designed to destroy my relationship with Dominic?
I gripped the door handle tightly and pushed it open just enough to peek through. The crack was small, and they didn’t notice me.
Faye stood next to Dominic, leaning against the piano in her evening gown, the sapphire necklace gleaming around her throat.
Everything she was wearing belonged to me.
Yet Dominic called me petty. How ridiculous.
“You’re just too pure and innocent. As long as I’m around, no one will ever hurt you,” Dominic looked at her with such tenderness that it seemed like he might
melt.
He had once said those exact words to me. Now he was saying them to another
girl.
Faye brightened instantly. She threw herself into his arms, her voice full of adoration: “You’re so good to me, Dominic. You’re the best person in my entire
world.”
Dominic stroked her hair and was about to say something when I interrupted. I pushed the door open forcefully, creating a loud bang that made Faye jump. He looked up with a frown, but when he saw it was me, his expression froze. He quickly pushed Faye away from him. “Sienna, this isn’t what it looks like.”
