Derood Summit got its name because it was believed that the animals living there possessed a unique spiritual quality. The mountain was also said to be protected by a guardian spirit, and anyone who hunted there would face severe consequences.

Phoebe purposely had the group set up their tents in a corner, a little farther away from the others. Once the tents were up, they took out a portable stove and ingredients they had brought along and started to cook noodle soup.
The soup and dipping sauce Phoebe had prepared smelled so delicious that Maddox and the others couldn’t help but praise her as they ate.
Reece and his group weren’t skilled in cooking, so they could only sit a little distance away, munching on their rations while savoring the delicious aroma drifting from the others‘ meals.
Leon shot an annoyed look at Frank and Reece. “You two and your terrible ideas. Coming all the way here to suffer, stuck smelling the food but unable to eat it.”

Frank chuckled and said, “You’ve just been too pampered. You should’ve started exercising a long time ago. Tonight, go help your sister keep watch. Maybe she’ll be touched by the gesture.”
Leon rolled his eyes. “If she gets moved by something this small, then she wouldn’t be her.”

Phoebe and the others watched the sunset together, then spent the evening playing cards inside the tent to pass the time. By around 10 p.m., they wrapped things up and settled in for the night.
