Chapter 30

Rosalie shook his hand. “It’s my pleasure, Mr. Stephen. Thank you for taking care of Edwin all these years.”
“You’re welcome. Edwin has a real talent for motorcycles. If he keeps up his current form, he could easily defend his world championship title this year,” Mike said.
The two exchanged a few polite pleasantries. Edwin stood by, feeling extremely awkward.
‘What’s with Rosalie? Every time she meets Mr. Stephen, she acts like a responsible parent. Does a seventeen–year–old girl have to be this mature? Where did she learn this?‘ he wondered to himself.
After the small talk, Rosalie followed Mike into the ward, while the others were kept outside.
“Edwin, she is really good to you.”
“I wish I had a cousin who was well–behaved, sensible, and considerate.”
“Other people’s cousins are always so perfect. You can forget about that.”
Inside the ward, the hospital bed was curtained off, with doctors and nurses bustling about inside.
Hearing the door open, the doctor Dalton Lynch wiped the sweat from his forehead, pulled back the curtain, and walked out.
Mike pecked through the gap. “Dr. Lynch, how is he? Is the pain under control?”
“The pain is temporarily managed for now,” Dalton said, seeming to hold back more. “Mr. Stephen, we’ve done our best. Given the patient’s current condition, we still recommend he withdraw from the race and take a year off to recover.
“If you force him to compete by numbing the pain now, there’s a high chance it could end his racing career.”
Dalton carefully explained the specifics of the patient’s condition and was about to discuss treatment recommendations with Mike.
At that moment, the girl who had come in with Mike stepped forward. “May I see his medical records?”
Dalton was taken aback for a moment before realizing Mike wasn’t alone.
The girl, around seventeen or eighteen years old, was wearing the uniform of a well–known school in Webston. Her face was strikingly beautiful, almost captivating.
After a brief daze, Dalton came to his senses, assuming she was a relative of the patient. “Miss, you probably wouldn’t understand the medical
records.
“His condition isn’t that serious. As long as he rests properly for a while, he’ll make à full recovery. You don’t need to worry.”
Mike, aware of the misunderstanding, stepped in to clarify. “She’s our team’s private doctor. She’s always been in charge of our players‘ health. Please give her the records. She’ll take over the treatment from here.”
“Ah?” Dalton was stunned again, his look at Rosalie becoming indescribable. “This girl looks like she’s just seventeen or eighteen. She’s probably not even out of high school yet. And she’s their private doctor?‘ he thought.
Dalton came to his senses and furrowed his brow. “Mr. Stephen, this is a hospital. It’s not a place for jokes.”
Mike replied patiently, “We’re not joking about our player’s injury.”
He understood how the doctor was feeling. The first time Mike had met the young girl, she had been even younger. Back then, he couldn’t believe that such a young girl could understand medicine.
It wasn’t until Mike saw it with his own eyes that he had to overturn his previous stereotypes.
Later on, when Mike learned that the girl was the apprentice of the Hudson family’s renowned physician, he wasn’t surprised by her exceptional medical skills. Although Rosalie was still young, she had already been learning medicine from her grandmother for over ten years.
Mike looked serious, clearly determined to let the young girl treat the injured player, Dalton was so annoyed that he almost laughed out loud.
“Practicing medicine requires a medical license. Patients have the right to choose their own doctors, but without a license, we won’t allow you to treat them in our hospital. It’s illegal,” said Dalton.
“Got it. I have one.” Rosalie took out her phone and showed him an electronic certificate. It was indeed a medical license.

Upon seeing the certificate, Dalton’s frown deepened. “It’s forged quite convincingly. Miss, do you know that forging documents is illegal?
“Even if you’re under eighteen, you’ll still face legal consequences. This time, I’ll let it slide, but if you use a fake license to deceive people again, I won’t be lenient.
Rosalie looked at Mike expressionlessly. Her meaning was clear. “Why didn’t you smooth things over with the hospital before bringing me here?”
“Mr. Philip and I have already communicated, and he agreed,” Mike quickly explained. “I’ll call Mr. Philip right now.”
Mike hadn’t expected that Dalton, who had helped with the pain relief, hadn’t been informed.
Hearing such ridiculous claims repeatedly, Dalton grew impatient.
Harvey Philip, the hospital director, was a renowned national top–tier physician. He was usually very busy, often shuttling between Coranburg and Webston. The day–to–day hospital affairs were mostly handled by the vice director.
It was already a privilege for the hospital staff to see Harvey a few times a year; ordinary people rarely had the chance to meet him.
“If you continue to cause a disturbance in the hospital, I will have security escort you out,” Dalton said.
Rosalie paused, glanced at him, then said nothing and walked over to the sofa against the wall and sat down.
Mike took his phone and stepped out onto the balcony to call Harvey.
Dalton glanced at his wristwatch and said to the nurse who was still busy applying heat to the patient, “I need to check on the next patient. Keep an eye on them and don’t let them do anything reckless. Notify me immediately if there’s any issue.”
He spoke loudly enough for Rosalie to hear, hoping to dissuade her from any further mischief.
The nurses, busy with their work, heard the conversation outside the curtain. “Okay.”
Dalton glanced at the quiet girl sitting down, shook his head, and left the VIP ward.
It was normal for teenagers in their teens to act cool, seek attention, and play the hero, but such behavior had to be kept within reasonable limits.
Medical treatment was not a game.
He couldn’t understand why the motorcycle team coach would trust her words and let her act recklessly without any sense of propriety.
After leaving the VIP ward and handling some work, Dalton returned to his office.
Curious colleagues gathered around him. “Dr. Lynch, it’s said that you took on a world champion patient? How’s it going?”
“If you cure a world champion, you’ll become famous too, right?”
“Why didn’t such a great opportunity fall on me? I’m so envious. With such a highlight in the annual summary, you’re definitely going to be promoted to director next year.”
Dalton had originally planned the same. The next second, he thought of Rosalie, that incredibly beautiful girl. ‘No matter how beautiful she is, she’s still just a kid, he thought himself.
“Don’t even mention it.” Dalton waved his hand gloomily.
Their curiosity only grew stronger. “What happened?”
Dalton recounted the earlier incident. “That girl was wearing a lodgeson High School uniform. She’s probably one of those rich family kids playing doctor in the hospital.”
Everyone sighed in exasperation. Such kids were the most troublesome.
