An Adopted Daughter Ch 4

Chapter 4 Tianna’s Plan

“Do you think helping her will get you something? Open your eyes. She’s just a nobody adopted by the Spencer family.”

The man paused, then turned. His dark gaze slid slowly toward Tianna. That casual glance sent a shiver down everyone’s spine.

At that moment, Tianna felt a phantom hand constricting her throat, leaving her gasping for breath. She wondered, ‘What does he want?’

Suddenly, the man laughed, his voice deep and smooth.

“It’s incredible that the Spencer family tolerate such abuse of their adopted child.”

Tianna’s face paled instantly, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead. It was a serious accusation.

Given the number of attendees, should this incident become public, could the Spencer family maintain their social position in Webston? She thought, ‘If Dominik hears this… he’ll never let me off.’

Tianna grew so anxious that only two questions echoed in her mind. ‘Who is this man? What should I do now?’

Rosalie felt a flicker of surprise and looked up at the man again.

She thought, ‘Is he standing up for me? But we don’t even know each other. Why does he help me?’

“Hey, guys. Why don’t you go dancing and having fun?”

At this moment, Dominik walked in from outside with a smile on his face, clearly in an excellent mood. A handsome young man trailed behind him.

Someone instantly drew a sharp breath and exclaimed, “It’s Kareem!”

Kareem Elliott was the second son of the Elliott family, one of Webston’s three most powerful clans. At merely twenty-six, he already oversaw two-thirds of the Elliott family’s business empire, serving as the undisputed head of the clan.

Dominik and Karen led Kareem in. Then Dominik’s gaze immediately fell on the vase’s broken shards scattered on the floor. His expression instantly shifted.

Tianna’s eyes lit up. Her mind raced, and a plan formed in an instant.

Before Dominik could even open his mouth, she jumped forward, pointing at Rosalie and the man. “Dominik, they broke your Meissen vase.”

She thought, ‘If this is blamed on Rosalie and that man, there’s no risk of rumors about the Spencers being hypocrites. People will just assume he’s smearing the family to dodge compensation.’

Tianna preened at her own shrewdness.

Dominik’s brow twitched. He shot a quick glance at Kareem, then at Rosalie, frustration welling up. He thought to himself, ‘Why did she have to embarrass me on this occasion?’

With Kareem and the entire guest list watching, however irritated he was by the broken Meissen vase, he couldn’t risk appearing miserly by scolding Rosalie publicly. What good would scolding her do, anyway?

She was, after all, a countryside-adopted daughter, financially incapable of reimbursing the vase’s cost. In that case, he might as well play the doting father in front of Kareem.

Just as he formulated this plan, Tianna couldn’t hold back any longer. She pressed insistently, “Dominik, your Meissen vase is worth about 400 thousand dollars. Today, we have to make this little bitch…”

Dominik snapped sharply, “Tianna, mind your tongue!”

Tianna flinched, clamping her mouth shut.

Dominik forced a smile, gesturing for servants to clean up as he spoke, “Just a decorative vase. It breaks—no big deal.

“Someone will clean this up. Now, let’s all move along. No need to let this trivial matter spoil the evening. Mr. Elliott, my apologies for the disruption. This way, please.”

With the host downplaying the issue, the guests naturally followed suit.

Just as the crowd began to disperse, a cold, clear voice sliced through the air, “You, apologize to me.”
