Chapter 119
Melanie jumped up, her eyes full of anger. A proud look appeared in Bella’s eyes as she gently leaned closer to Zachary, pretending to be weak. Bella said, “If it weren’t for you. Gwyneth wouldn’t have been so sad and stayed away from Joracity all these years. You took everything from her.” Hearing Bella defend Gwyneth and seeing Zachary didn’t stop her, Melanie got even madder. She shot Zachary a furious look and said, “You’re a cold–hearted jerk who dumped my sister and a town girl who only takes advantage of others.
“And you think you can criticize me? Now that my sister is with Harrison, she’s way happier than she ever was with Zachary!”
A flicker of guilt appeared in Zachary’s eyes as he looked at Gwyneth. She looked indifferent–actually, she was secretly cheering inside. Gwynethi thought. Even though Melanie and I usually don’t get along, she really got it right this time.

Bella thought sadly, tears in her eyes as she stormed out, ready to hit Melanie. Melanie planning to slap Bella hard. Melanie hoped Gwyneth would bring her in to meet Adrian.

Melanie said, “Come on, Gwyneth, I really had your back out there–1 almost tore Bella’s face off for you! Can’t you at least give me some credit and
let me in?
“Stop pretending Gwyneth snapped.
Gwyneth was getting a bad headache from all the noise, and her phone kept ringing with calls from Quentin. She said, “Fine, you can come in. But once we’re inside, don’t tell anyone we’re sisters—we’re not close.”
All Gwyneth wanted was some quiet in the lounge. Melanie’s eyes lit up. She thought, Perfect! I’d rather no one know we’re sisters anyway:
Melanse said, “Got it. Now hurry and take me inside!”
Gwyneth led Melanie inside, leaving her to handle herself. Once inside, Gwyneth looked for Harrison–only to see him surrounded by people forcing drinks on him. She asked Clyde to prepare some hangover medicine, then went one to the lounge to wait.
She didn’t care about climbing the social ladder. They hadn’t even had a real wedding, and she wasn’t about to tell people she was Harrison’s wife Across the crowd, Harrison watched her, only relaxing when he saw her settle down comfortably.
