Chapter 130
At Jenkins Group, Quentin’s assistant said nervously, “We’re running out of money.
“These two projects are on hold for now. We need to pay for everything upfront, but the workers aren’t getting paid, so they won’t work faster. Without the money, we’re stuck.”

The assistant kept bringing more bad news, making Quentin feel restless. He thought that once the bid succeeded and the money was back, Jenkins Group’s cash flow would finally get better.
Not only did the bid fail, but some other projects also stopped because of different problems. Lost and confused, Quentin walked back and forth in his office, his eyes falling on the stock market display.
He made a tough choice. “Let’s sell some of Jenkins Group’s small shares,” he said. “Getting some small investors might give us a little more time.
“I’ll do it right away,” the assistant said, hurrying out. Almost immediately, Jenkins Group’s stock price started to change a lot.
Gwyneth watched carefully, looking at the stalled projects. Seeing Quentin already desperate enough to sell small shares, she thought, “This is actually the perfect chance for me to make my move.
She called Flora. “I have a fake identity as Rosalie Mitchell, with all the papers in order.”
Gwyneth said, “Use this fake identity to buy all the small shares of Jenkins Group. Don’t sell them, no matter if we make a profit or a loss. Find out exactly how much money is needed, and I’ll transfer the money in two hours.”
Flora looked surprised. “But I work at Jenkins Group.”
Gwyneth was actually making a staff member buy her own company’s small shares with a fake name. If anyone found out, she would be in trouble.
Gwyneth smiled as she handed her the papers. “You’re someone I trust.”
“I get it,” Flora said, her eyes lighting up. Compared to Quentin and Melanie, who weren’t very smart, Gwyneth was clearly the better partner.
Gwyneth sat alone at her desk, her face cold as she watched Jenkins Group’s stock go up and down. She would take back Jenkins Group piece by piece. The money she spent came from selling her property and stocks in Galvocity.
She thought, ‘It’s only right to use my hard work to get back everything that was originally my mother’s.
There was a knock on the door. A junior employee came in and said, “Mr. Jenkins wants to see you.”
Gwyneth gathered her thoughts, heading to Quentin’s office. Quentin turned off the stock market screen and put on a friendly smile. “Gwennie, have a seat,” he said. “I want to talk about the recent market changes.”
“Not in the conference room?” Gwyneth said with a smile as she sat down, her eyes shining with subtle mockery.
Surprised that his little plan was exposed, Quentin asked carefully, “Could the recent market changes have anything to do with your personal life?”
Quentin said, “Now that Flynn Group won the bid, it looks like they plan to expand into Joracity. Since we’ll all be working in the same city and will often meet, it’s better not to let old problems make things awkward, don’t you think?”
He tried to sound casual. “I don’t keep in touch with them much, but Gwennie, you used to be close with Zachary. Maybe you could-” He stopped, but his meaning was clear–he wanted her to get close to Flynn Group.
