Chapter 131
Gwyneth thought, ‘Quentin married me off to the Lopez family, and now he still expects me to use my past with Zachary to get close to him.
“I won’t do it,” Gwyneth said plainly, standing up to leave.

Quentin jumped up. “Gwennie, we’re family–can’t we just talk this through? All I want is for you to say good things about Jenkins Group to Zachary and help us out.”
He begged, “If you do, I’ll build your mom a private memorial garden, just how she’d like. Will you do this for me?”
His voice sounded almost desperate. After all, he saw Zachary chasing Gwyneth’s car after the bidding that day. It didn’t matter if Zachary still liked Gwyneth or just felt guilty and wanted to make it right.
As long as she was still on his mind, this plan could work–win Zachary over, they could get the Flynn Group to help and invest, then the Jenkins Group could survive.
Gwyneth stopped and let out a cold, mocking laugh at Quentin. “Dad, you only make empty promises when you want something. I won’t fall for it again.”
Quentin begged, “Gwennie, forget about the memorial garden if you don’t want it. Just tell me what you want–anything. As long as you’re willing to have dinner with Zachary, I’ll do anything you ask.”
He stood up, blocking her way, barely hiding his desperation. Only then did Gwyneth slowly turn around. “Anything?” she asked.
“Whatever I can do,” Quentin said through clenched teeth.
After a pause, just as sweat appeared on his forehead, Gwyneth said coldly, “I want Mercer Group.”
Mercer Group, a part of Jenkins Group, was named after Gwyneth’s mother to honor her memory.
It used to be her porcelain studio. Later, as it became an industrial company and grew stronger, her traces disappeared from it.
The company barely made money and was close to failing. Quentin’s eyes lit up–he had been looking for an excuse to shut it down. Gwyneth actually wanted to take it off his hands. ‘Perfect timing!” he thought.
Quentin said, “Done. I’ll draw up the papers and transfer Mercer Group to you.”
Gwyneth nodded, then walked out confidently.
Quentin sneered and muttered to himself, “Having a company with her mom’s history is enough to get her completely hooked.”
Gwyneth smiled and walked away. She thought, Does he really think I want this company just because of that?
The company Mom once ran for a short time is like her treasured porcelain–though she’s gone, it is still valuable. The potential of Mercer Group will be way more than Quentin can imagine!
After a long, tiring day, Gwyneth went home, feeling tired and ready to rest. Just as she took off her coat, she heard a knock at the door. When she opened it, she saw Harrison standing there, sweat on his hair.
He was trying to stay calm as he spoke. “I have to fly out for an urgent overseas meeting–my flight leaves in an hour.”
Gwyneth was surprised, her fingers tightening around the doorknob. ‘He really came all this way just to tell me, even with such a tight schedule?‘ she wondered, surprised in her eyes.
Worried he might miss his flight, Gwyneth said, “Why come all this way just to tell me? A quick call would have been enough.”
Harrison looked at her. “I also came back to grab something,” he said casually, Gwyneth bought it.
