Chapter 134
“Ah, maybe the gardener finished working in the garden and forgot to close the door, letting a stray cat come inside,” a maid guessed.
She added, “Don’t worry, Gwyneth. I’ll take it outside right now.”
The two maids went to catch the kitten. Even though it was a stray, it was surprisingly tame–when they picked it up by the scruff, it just meowed softly and kept its claws in.

Gwyneth also sighed with relief–it was just a cat after all. The kitten looked up at her with big, pleading eyes, its little legs paddling in the air and its stomach rumbling loudly.
Gwyneth saw the kitten was hungry. She thought for a moment and said, “Let’s get it something to eat first. Then we’ll let it go.”
“Of course,” a maid replied kindly, taking the kitten downstairs to feed it. After checking the villa carefully to make sure she hadn’t missed anything, Gwyneth picked up the porcelain and headed downstairs.
As she moved, a dark figure flickered briefly and disappeared. On the first floor, she paused to drink some water, updated Carol about where she was, and prepared to leave.
The cat, still foamy with milk in its mouth, rubbed against Gwyneth’s leg. She paused in her steps. ‘How cute,’ she thought.
Gwyneth suddenly thought, ‘When I was with Zachary, I used to dream of having a puppy or a kitten. But he always brushed it off, saying he was too busy with work to take care of one.
‘He always made excuses. At first, we were barely getting by with the startup, so he had no time for a pet. Later, when the company grew, he was too busy with work and rarely came home.
‘Even after Zachary went back to the Flynn Group and became the heir, he always had work excuses. Still, he always found time to take Bella to concerts or go on long trips in Joracity without ever coming home.
He never made time to raise a kitten or a puppy with her. Gwyneth bent down and picked up the cute kitten. “Come on, little one. You’re coming
home with me.”
‘Now I don’t need to ask Zachary’s opinion, Gwyneth thought. She would follow her own heart and raise the kitten. The cat curled up in her arms, letting out a few soft meows, totally calm.
Gwyneth hurried to Carol’s research lab with the kitten. The doorman, who loved cats, happily agreed to watch it for a while. Carol was already waiting at the door.
Instead of asking about the porcelain first, Carol gave her a big hug and pointed at the white Rolls–Royce Cullinan behind her. “Girl, are you showing off in a Cullinan just to impress us?”
Gwyneth rolled her eyes and nudged Carol playfully. “Who would I show off for? You’re the only one working late here!”
Carol pretended to be hurt. “Seriously? A white Rolls–Royce Cullinan just screams look at me, and you say you’re not showing off? I’m crushed! You got married without telling me, bought a Cullinan, and I’m the last to know?”
Gwyneth explained, “I had a quick marriage. My husband is more like a business partner, and this? Just the daily car he gave me.”
“Who’s your husband? Using a Cullinan as your daily car–he must be super rich!” Carol said excitedly, eyes full of gossip.
Just as Gwyneth was about to explain, her phone suddenly lit up with “Harrison Lopez” on the screen. Carol saw it and gasped, “Oh my god.
Harrison Lopez?”
