Chapter 144
Meanwhile, Harrison had already saved the photo in a flash. He gently traced her face on the screen with his fingertip.
For the first time, a business trip felt like true torture. If only he could be there–to watch her make that “gift” for him with his own eyes.

Chapter 145
Early the next morning, Gwyneth was woken up in the studio’s break room by a call from Elowen.
“How’s the composing going?” Elowen asked.
Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, Gwyneth glanced at the stack of papers on the nightstand–cach one filled with dense music notation.
She’d been working nonstop at Evan’s studio these past few days, and inspiration had come pouring in. She’d written down every idea she had.
“Perfect timing. I’ve actually got some inspiration,” she said, getting up to wash up. She agreed to meet Elowen at her studio.
Gwyneth drove straight there in a Rolls–Royce Cullinan. As soon as she parked, Elowen, who had been waiting on the sidewalk, came right over.
“Wow, your husband really spoils you. No doubt he’s head over heels,” Elowen said.
“How do you know he bought the car? Couldn’t I have bought it myself?” Gwyneth got out with ease, locked the car, and linked arms with Elowen as they walked inside.
Elowen chuckled. “Even if you’re rich, you’d never drive something this over–the–top every day. To you, a car’s just a way to get from point A to B- no need for something flashy. This has to be his doing.”
“You really get me.” Gwyneth laughed, then added in a softer voice, “Well, he really is the best ally in the world.”
Elowen raised a brow. As they walked away, she cast another glance at the Rolls–Royce Cullinan. Even if Harrison was the best ally on earth, there was no way he would’ve gotten Gwyneth such an expensive car this quickly–just as an ally.
She suspected Gwyneth and Harrison’s relationship wasn’t as simple as it seemed. Still, it wasn’t her place to meddle in their marriage, so she kept her thoughts to herself.
Inside the studio, most of the Luna Orchestra members were already present for their weekly group rehearsal.
Someone came up to Elowen and said, “We’re missing a violinist. Should we start checking who’s out, or wait a bit?”
“Violinists almost never skip practice. Don’t check yet–just ask around and see if she had a reason to be absent, Elowen said, frowning.
Gwyneth stayed close to her. She was familiar with Elowen’s rules. Everyone in the Luna Orchestra was top–tier talent, and a bit proud. These weekly group practices were meant to build familiarity and ensure the ensemble stayed sharp when performing together.
Technically, being absent meant a pay cut–but that was inore of a warning than punishment. Besides, if something serious had happened to the missing violinist, that would be a much bigger issue.
Soon, Elowen got a reply. “Vera’s been super busy lately. She’s barely around these days. Maybe something’s going on at home.”
When Gwyneth heard the name Vera, she remembered what Zachary had said to Bella. Zachary had even brought Bella to watch a Luna Orchestra performance.
“Elowen, can I talk to you in private?” Gwyneth pulled her aside and told her everything she had overheard from Zachary and Bella’s phone call.

A hint of anger crossed Elowen’s face. “Members of Luna Orchestra aren’t allowed to take side gigs. Private teaching damages the orchestra’s reputation–and too many of those, and your heart’s no longer in the music.
“I pay Vera pretty well. Why would she run off to someone’s house to teach?”
As the two of them were talking, a woman rushed in from outside. “Sorry, I ran into some traffic on the way. I’m late. Please forgive me.”
“You hit traffic every day?”
“Vera, I thought you lived pretty close to the studio. Can traffic really delay you that much?”
Several of the violinists gathered around, showing concern
