Chapter 154
When she turned and caught Zachary still gaping after Gwyneth, Bella’s blood boiled. She quickly put on a tearful face, clutching his arm. “It’s my fault. I’m too frail to earn money for you like Gwyneth does.
“But when Gwyneth was with Harrison, she never splurged like this. And Harrison would never flaunt some mistress’s gift. Zachary, do you think Gwyneth bought it for a new lover?” She leaned in, emphasizing the last three words.
Zachary’s expression darkened as he suddenly remembered the man he’d seen with Gwyneth in the car that day.
‘First Harrison, now another man?‘ Zachary thought, his face turning stony. He immediately called his assistant and asked for a full background check.
Without him noticing it, Bella’s lips curled into a smug smile. ‘Just wait, Gwyneth,‘ she thought. ‘Zachary will soon see what kind of woman you really are.
‘By then, even if you don’t want to be Harrison’s mistress and try to crawl back to Zachary, it’d be too late The place by Zachary’s side is my alone!’

Gwyneth climbed back into her car with the shirt, only to find her phone buzzing non–stop with messages from Melanie.
‘What fresh drama is this?‘ Gwyneth thought in disgust as she scrolled through the flood of texts.
The photo showed Harrison with a woman with big wavy hair. They stood in a dim corner, their shoulders pressing together as they gazed into each other’s eyes. Their lips were curled in unmistakably intimate smiles.
Melanie’s messages popped up next. [That’s Harrison’s secret lover abroad.]
[You can’t even keep a flawed man. Be glad Mr. Lopez can’t make anyone pregnant, or your position would be shaky.]
[Better pray he doesn’t dump you like trash, unless you wanna beg for change with your loser friends.]
Gwyneth rolled her eyes. ‘Pathetic. Melanie is clearly getting her petty revenge for last night’s humiliation, she thought.
Without hesitation, Gwyneth blocked Melanie’s number.
Harrison and Gwyneth were allies first, spouses in name only. As long as they presented a united front when it mattered, neither cared to pry into the other’s personal affairs.
On the other end, Melanie spent minutes composing a scathing message, smirking as she hit send. Then she found that Gwyneth’s profile photo was no longer visible on her WhatsApp profile. Even Gwyneth’s “last seen” and “about” information was hidden from her.
That sent Melanie into a rage. She stamped her feet right there. “You fucking bitch!” she shrieked. “How dare you block me? What kind of wife isn’t jealous of her own husband’s mistress?”
Gwyneth’s car smoothly pulled up at the entrance of the Mercer Group.
Sharon just arrived too, riding her electric scooter. Her hair and clothes were messy from the wind, but her eyes remained bright.
Gwyneth parked and stepped out. She wasn’t wearing her usual work outfit, just comfy clothes instead. She’d gotten up early to buy Harrison a shirt, and she wasn’t about to walk around all morning in heels.
They met at the entrance and walked into the Mercer Group’s gleaming lobby together.

Before Gwyneth could introduce herself, the receptionist cut her off with an exaggerated eye roll.
“Corporate HQ isn’t a homeless shelter,” the receptionist sneered, scanning their casual outfits. “No handouts here. We’re expecting VIPs today. Scram before security escorts you out.”
“Get lost! Look at yourself–rushing to the front desk. You think you’re some big boss sent from HQ?” The security guard showed up too, eyeing Sharon’s wrinkled pants with disgust.
Sharon’s jaw dropped. “Did I sign up to work at a company or some shady back–alley operation?” she muttered to Gwyneth.
