Chapter 66
Gwyneth returned to her office, took a moment to refocus, and dove back into work. Half an hour passed in a blink.
She had just opened a new project proposal and read the first line when Flora pushed the door open.
“Mr. Jenkins asked you to head to the meeting room to discuss the partnership with Flynn Group,” she said. “The partner’s side made it clear—if you’re not there, the deal’s off
“Mr. Jenkins and Ms. Melanie Jenkins aho said if you don’t show up, the loss will be blamed on you, and the company will issue a formal public reprimand.”
The first part was official business; the second, clearly Quentin and Melanie’s veiled threat.
Gwyneth didn’t want to see Zachary, but a public disciplinary notice would do more damage to her standing in the company. She knew exactly which battle was worth picking.
She stood up immediately and beckoned Flora over. Print the relevant files for me.”
“Already done.” Flora said, handing her the prepared documents.
Gwyneth gave a faint, satisfied smile. With the papers in hand, she returned to the meeting room.
Zachary’s gaze locked onto her the second she walked in, like a magnet. But she didn’t acknowledge it, just calmly took her seat
I’m here now. We can talk business, Gwyneth said.
“You just grabbed a couple of documents and think you know this project? Melanie snapped.
She had just spent half an hour being completely ignored by Zachary and was already fuming. The moment Gwyneth walked in, she sneered, “Mr. Flynn only kept you in this meeting out of old feelings. Just sit there and look pretty”
Then she walked over to the big screen and started presenting the initial outline of the project.
Gwyneth didn’t even get through two sentences before she dropped her pen onto the table with a sharp click.
This plan is pointless if you’re just copying Flynn Group’s strategy straight into Joracity,” she said.
“Start by identifying the consumer segment in Joracity. Then match that to the brand’s tone and image. As it stands, this proposal needs to go back for a full rewrite.
Melanie’s face fell. “Oh, like you’d know? You haven’t even read the project How can you claim we didn’t do research? These are the most accurate numbers.”
“Your data is wrong,” Gwyneth replied with a tired smile. She tapped her phone, pulled up a screen–sharing feed, and cast it to the big display.
A new set of data appeared on the screen–completely different from what Melanie had shown
Gwyneth scoffed. “I might not know this project, but I know Flynn Group better than you do
She had spent thirteen years with Zachary–from school days to cutthroat boardrooms. She knew his management style, Flynn Group’s direction, and its future goals inside and our
As if to back her up, Zachary finally spoke. “Gwyneth’s right. The proposal needs to be redone.”
Melanie’s face went pale. Watching the rushed plan she and her team had scrambled to pull together get shot down in seconds made her want to explode.
But with Zachary–their key partner–still present, she had no choice but to swallow her anger and grit her teeth
sin silence.
Just then, Zachary’s phone started buzzing nonstop. He muttered a quick apology and stepped out to take the call.
Once the door closed, Quentin lightly capped the edge of the table with his fingertip. “Gwyneth, it’s good that you take your work seriously. But the Jenkins family’s interests come first. You’re already married to Harrison–you can’t go back to Zachary
“If you play both sides, don’t be surprised if Zachary turns on you later. Why don’t you hand this project over to Melanie? It’d be better for your reputation and for Jenkins Group.”
His words were laughable. Just earlier, Quentin had forced her to show up and entertain Zachary against her will. Now that she’d read through the

proposal and understood the project, they were suddenly trying to push her aside. Things didn’t work like that
