Chapter 68
After saying all that, Zachary felt a surge of confidence.
He believed that for Gwyneth, compared to being the mistress of a cold–hearted man, reconciling with someone who truly knew her himself- was the better choice.
He thought this was obvious. But it only made Gwyneth laugh softly across from him.
She said. “If I marry you, I have to share you with Bella. How’s that any different from continuing to be Harrison’s mistress?
“Since it’s all about sharing a man with another woman, I choose Harrison. In looks, money, and power, he far surpasses you. I’d rather be his mistress than your wife.”
As she spoke, Gwyneth slowly stood up, pressing her palms on the table and leaning slightly forward. A dangerous gleam flared in her eyes, locking onto Zachary,
“Besides, you’re trying to use me to climb up to Harrison,” she continued. “Instead of trying to win me back, you should try to please me. Maybe I’ll take pity and introduce you to him.”
The confidence in Zachary’s eyes shattered instantly. Trembling with anger, his knuckles cracked as he clenched his fists tight. His pride and Caryneth’s choice felt like sharp knives cutting deep into him.
“Gwyneth, how can you be such a shameless homewrecker?” he shouted.
“You’re the one who cheated and pretended to care for me today, but actually you want to latch onto Harrison for resources. How noble of you, Gwyneth said, deliberately dragging out the word “noble.”
For a moment, Zachary almost lost it. He slammed his hand on the table. “Gwyneth, I’m saying this for your own good!”
“I’m saying it for your own good too. Pleasing me is what you should be doing. Don’t act like a madman causing trouble at Jenkins Group, Gwyneth said coldly, shooting him a piercing glance that didn’t lose any intensity.
Seeing has former lover so fierce now, Zachary’s feelings churned in a complicated mix as he widened his eyes.
Just as the tension reached its peak, the meeting room door was pushed open once again.
Hearing the argument, Melanie quickly walked in. “Mr. Flynn, Gwyneth, let’s all be cordial and focus on making money together. No need to get st
angry
She pretended to be gentle as she poured two cups of coffee. When placing one in front of Zachary, she deliberately said, “Mr. Flynn, don’t be upset. Actually, Gwyneth has always held grudges against you.
“She even regretted following you to Galvocity. It’s no wonder she doesn’t want to sign a contract with you now,”
“Gwyneth, have you regretted it!” Zachary’s gaze instantly sharpened.
Gwyneth blinked. She hadn’t regretted it before. But at the moment she left, she did feel a fleeting regret.
Now, looking at the smiling Melanie, she knew Melanie was deliberately trying to sow discord between them. Gwyneth didn’t want to give Melanie the satisfaction, but also felt too lazy to lie to Zachary.
After besitating for a moment, she suddenly sneered, “Yes, I regretted it when I left–regretted believing your false affection back then. But about our past together, I’ve never held any grudges.
“You’re here to talk business. If you keep letting personal matters affect you, better get your attitude straight before coming again. Don’t waste my precious time.
After saying that, Gwyneth lazily sat back down, waiting for his answer. He could either put the past aside and discuss business professionally or let Melanie influence him and leave early.
Facing Gwyneth’s provocative gaze, Zachary felt suffocated. Those once intimate memories now blocked his words.
When Gwyneth said she never held any grudges, his hean stirred again. But facing her cold words, he felt his heart plunge into a valley.
