Chapter 80
Zachary’s nails dug into his palm, the pain excruciating. Just then, a waiter approached discreetly and said. “Mr. Zachary, you’ve lingered too long in
the VIP section. Please come with me.
Zachary finally unclenched his fist, forcing down the anger boiling inside him as he turned to leave. But halfway out, he suddenly stopped, spun around, and secretly snapped a photo of Harrison and Gwyneth standing shoulder–to–shoulder, deep in conversation.
In the photo, they stood shoulder to shoulder, their hands secretly intertwined out of sight.
“Gwennie, you’re nothing but the other woman hiding in the shadows, Zachary thought bitterly. With a hardened heart, he ruthlessly saved the painful photo, determined to send it to Gwyneth later, hoping she’d finally see Harrison’s true colors.
Up ahead, Harrison was the first to withdraw his hand with gentlemanly grace. “I’ve already greeted everyone at the party,” he said, making it clear they should leave now,
Harrison was completely taken with Gwyneth; his heart and mind were filled with her. Every time Zachary wavered, Gwyneth’s emotions seemed to sway with him. It was enough to make anyone jealous
Gwyneth couldn’t understand Harrison’s thoughts and found the party boring. She decided to leave early with him. The spectators had their fun but now the actors needed to step out of their roles. They left midway, and no one dared to comment.
At Teloria Apartment, the car pulled up smoothly downstairs. Having left the party early to report back to the Lopez family, Harrison got our midway and instructed Clyde to take Gwyneth the rest of the way home.
Gwyneth also slipped out of that eye–catching evening gown and into a cozy chestnut–colored coat before heading home.
Opening the car door, she immediately spotted two familiar figures under the streetlight. Clyde also noticed and frowned. “Mrs. Lopez, do you need me to accompany you upstairs!” “Bella is too dangerous, he thought
Gwyneth waved him off, still not used to being called Mrs. Lopez. Just call the Gwyneth,” she said. “They probably have something to say to me in private. You can wait in the car for a bit,”
“Understood,” Clyde replied, keeping a watchful eye on Gwyneth’s safety
Clyde acknowledged but kept the car in place, maintaining constant watch over Gwyneth’s safety. Gwyneth understood he was simply following protocol and didn’t mind him staying close.
She stopped just before the dim yellow light, most of her figure shrouded in darkness, hands in her pockets. She asked flatly. “What is it?”
“Gwennie, Zachary said urgently, “Tve got something really important to talk to you about privately. Please. He tried to step forward, but Gwyneth purposefully drew out her injured hand, the white bandage starkly visible.
She had worn black gloves at the party earlier, but now, in her everyday clothes, the glaring white bandage on her hand stood out sharply. Gwyneth looked at Zachary coldly and asked, “So, are you here to talk, or just to hurt me again?”
Zachary winced, freezing in place. Only then did Gwyneth withdraw her hand, lifting her chin with haughty defiance. Tm in a hurry to go back and rest Don’t block my way”
Bella dug her nails into the hem of lier coat, glaring at Gwyneth’s haughty demeanor. ‘Who does she think she is? she thought inwardly. Just the other woman, nullung more”
Seeing Gwyneth about to walk around him, Zachary quickly called out, his tone urgent. “Wait, I need to talk to you about Harrison and his wife.”
The phone suddenly rang, interrupting them. Zachary was about to ignore it, but Bella, sharp–eyed, spotted “Grandpa” on the screen. “Zachary, it’s your grandpa” she reminded him urgently.
“Wait, Gwyneth, just give me a couple more minutes. I’ll finish this call really quickly.” Zachary pleaded, reaching out to block her path with one
hand as he answered Victor’s call.
