While discussing business with clients alongside our new spokesperson, I spotted Michelle sitting alone in a corner, lost in thought.
When she saw me, she quickly averted her gaze,
I walked over with Amelia.
Michelle shot me a dirty look. “What, come to laugh at me? Now I get why you suddenly changed and wanted a divorce! You had someone lined up! Eric, I was wrong about you, but five got to hand it to you. You’ve got the guts to pursue true love!”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “You’ve got it all wrong. Amelia is our spokesperson, here for business. We’re just friends who respect each other’s work.”
She looked me up and down. “Even your style has changed. Just friends who respect each other, huh?”
Then, she scoffed. “Let’s talk in private.”
Amelia graciously stepped aside to give us space. Michelle glanced between her and me before speaking, “You know Harris got arrested, right?”
I nodded. “I made that happen.”
Michelle wasn’t surprised at all. “If you went through all that trouble to get Harris arrested for me, you must still have feelings for me. Let’s get remarried. I’m willing to overlook everything you did before.”
I stared at her in shock, completely lost for words.
She raised an eyebrow. “Hey, I’m talking to you! Are you listening?”
“I think you’ve got the wrong idea. I turned Harris in because he tried to blackmail me. The police only prosecuted because the amount was substantial. Besides, your eight boyfriends sent me all the evidence of your affairs. I’d never consider remarrying you. I have standards.”
She froze for a moment, then burst out laughing. “Stop kidding yourself, Eric! I’m all you think about, all you see. Why else would you date that woman? She even used to be my body double back in the day!”
I stared at her in disbelief, shaking my head without a word.
As I turned to leave, Michelle grabbed my hand, giving it a playful shake.
Thirty years ago, this girly act might have fooled me, but now, with her plastic face and the visible wrinkles on her neck, not to mention that subtle old–person smell about her.
Watching someone like this try to act cute and coy in front of me was just nauseating.
I pushed her away. “Enough with the act, Michelle!”
I strode off while she tried to follow, but my security team blocked her path. Michelle stomped her foot in frustration.

I strode off while she tried to follow, but my security team blocked her path. Michelle stomped her foot in frustration.
She might still be a big shot in showbiz, but in the business world, she couldn’t touch my
position.
After that, I never paid attention to her again. The online buzz about her gradually died down,
and Michelle and I became strangers to each other.
Those publicity–seekers had nothing new to say either. The social media accounts just kept recycling her “strong woman” rhetoric.
But cheating wasn’t something she could just brush off. There was no way she could restore
her former glory.
Michelle seemed to realize this, too and started to take the approachable route, doing live streams, chatting with netizens, and even dabbling in online sales.
The next time I saw her was in paparazzi photos. She was strolling hand–in–hand down a pedestrian street with her boyfriend, who was a good 20 years her junior. They were snacking and laughing, looking every bit the happy couple.
Michelle seemed to have found the fountain of youth. The wrinkles on her face were gone, but her expression was blank, almost as if she couldn’t make any significant movements.
