Actually, regardless of whether Eugene attended the board meeting, it wouldn’t affect the result.
As the bodyguards made a path for me and I entered the conference room, I saw that he was already seated at the head of the table.
He gazed at me triumphantly.
“Laura, even though you’ve got the shares Stella held and leveraged your family’s influence to purchase shares from a few minor shareholders, your shareholding percentage is still much less than mine. What makes you believe can come out on top?”

I gave him a disdainful smile in return.
“So, you’ve dropped the act? After pulling an all–nighter, is this the best information you could find? You’re still not strong enough.
“Eugene, we’ve been married for quite a few years, yet we’ve never truly understood one another. Now, I’ve come to understand you completely, but you still don’t know me well enough.
“I’ve got some spare time today, so there’s no rush. It’s more fun to play the cards slowly, one at a time. What do you think?”
While I was talking, I gradually made my way to the opposite side of the negotiation table to confront him head–on.

promptly moved forward to pull out a chair for me.
A trace of panic flashed through Eugene’s eyes.
“Are they on your side?”
Once I was seated, I calmly told him, “They, like you, were underprivileged students whom my dad supported.
“Ever since I was in junior high, my dad has been picking out talented individuals to develop and setting up opportunities for me. You didn’t really think he only sponsored you, did you?
“I’m not trying to sabotage you. I included them because they’re incredibly talented. It’s you who closed off your own fast track to
success.
When the conversation turned to sponsorship, Eugene’s expression turned grim.
His deep–seated inferiority complex revealed a truly unpleasant side of
him.
Nevertheless, he quickly began to laugh once more.
“Even with them included, your chips are almost identical to mine. I still have a strategist. Let me introduce them to you now.
“Laura, from the moment I met you, I’ve despised that expression you wear when you pretend to have everything figured out and start issuing commands. Each day with you left me feeling repulsed.”
He then used his cell phone to make a call, questioning the person on the line about their delay.
However, after just exchanging a few words, his complexion turned

His hand holding the phone began to tremble slightly.
I lifted my eyebrows and grinned. “Ms. Leandra isn’t available. She’s going with my parents to the mall today.
“Don’t be surprised. She’s not my people. She’s merely my mom’s best friend and was assisting me in relaying a message to you.
“I’m really curious. You dislike it when I appear to have everything organized and under control, but you view the person who just delivered a message as your strategist and willingly gave her shares to keep her happy. What’s the reasoning behind that?”
Until now, Eugene had been at a complete disadvantage in our ongoing confrontation.
He likely wasn’t inclined to respond to my question.
He appeared to be on the brink of breaking down.
Had he not been seated, I would have questioned whether he might simply collapse and lie on the floor right there.
As the minutes passed, he placed another call. “I accept your terms.
“There’s no time for explanation. Just assist me in purchasing all the available stocks now, and we can work out the terms later.”
After ending the call, I was puzzled about where he found the nerve to challenge me financially.
He gazed at me with wide eyes.
“Laura, do you really think I don’t have any tricks left? With the Taylor

family overseas for so long, how many resources do you still have left here?
“You’re aware of the Kane family, aren’t you? With their heir
supporting me, you’re bound to be defeated.”
Upon hearing the Kane family mentioned, I turned to Steve and exchanged a glance.
This response once more filled Eugene with pride.
“There’s no point in being scared now! Initially, I believed you were still useful, but I didn’t anticipate your lack of gratitude. You’ll surely regret it even more down the line!”
I ignored Eugene.
As a person who had risen from the lower ranks just a few years back, and joined the long–established families in the region, he still

I nodded, and my mind started working.
“I’ve heard that Sir Kane is considering expanding internationally. I could represent the Taylor family in discussing a partnership with him.

“Do you believe this move could be enough to stop Melvin’s financial support?”
He lifted his chin and gestured with his hand.
“No need to make such a fuss. If I commit to returning and taking over the family business, my grandpa will consent to anything. We’ll discuss the partnership later, just between us.
With that, he moved aside and began dialing a number on his phone.
We didn’t speak in a low voice.
Eugene suddenly stood up and hit the table with his hand.
“Quit the act! You’re just a lawyer pretending to be part of the Kane family. No matter how long you drag this out, you’re destined to lose.”
I pulled out my phone and checked the financial report for the group.
I stated calmly, “The outcome will be revealed shortly. There’s no use in debating endlessly.”
Steve was always dependable when it came to managing situations. It didn’t take long for Eugene’s phone to ring first,
However, Eugene unexpectedly lost his composure.
Despite the other party lacking sufficient funds, he invested all the funds he could gather into it.
Ultimately, he ended up selling his shares to Melvin in return for funds.
I sent numerous messages, yet I managed to retrieve fewer than half of
the shares.

Steve beamed at me smugly.
“I’ve got control of most of the shares now. With my grandpa
supporting me, there’s no reason for you to feel cheated about your
loss.
“I’m a shareholder now as well. I look forward to your guidance in the future!”
Despite receiving a substantial sum of money, Eugene found himself unable to reach Melvin by phone.
However, he persisted, continually redialing the number.
Just then, the police entered the room and presented him with handcuffs.
“Laura, did you call the police?
“I didn’t commit any crime. This woman is making false accusations. against me…”
He yelled frantically while being led away.
I turned to Steve.
“Mr. Kane, you’ll assist me in winning the final lawsuit, won’t you?
“I wasn’t aware of the divorce. Please also help me sue Eugene to ensure he compensates me for the property we jointly owned during our marriage. I want it calculated from the time of the divorce, and I expect half of it.”
Steve confidently patted his chest and assured me, “I can’t guarantee you’ll get half, but I’m certain I can push him to lose everything.”
