Chapter 26 A Tool for Arranged Marriage:
Margot sent a question mark to Maggie and cursed Halsey after learning what he had said.
He’s such a scoundrel! I’ve just insulted him with a few words and he wants to cut off my livelihood! What about my five years of youth and time and the awful things he’s done to me? How am I supposed to get justice for myself?
She grew angrier the more she thought about it. Her heart was filled with bitterness. Why am I so unlucky? As Margot, my divorce in’t going smoothly. And as Miss Magnolia, I’ve angered Halsey. What a streak of bad luck!
Feeling completely defeated, Margot returned to the Hudson family villa. She took off her mask and swallowed a pill to revert her voice to her original tone. After thanking the driver, she got out of the car and entered the brightly lit villa.
As Margot entered the living room, she saw Lynn sitting on the couch, her well–kept face displaying a frosty expression. Margot sat directly in the armchair and asked bluntly. “What do you want to talk about?”
“Margot, have you lost your mind? You were the one who insisted on marrying him back then. You even resorted to the shameful act of sneaking into his bed to secure the marriage. And now, for merely five years, you want a divorce? Are you Jinsane?” asked Lynn.
Lynn’s voice was filled with suppressed fury. Margot wanting a divorce was beyond her understanding.
Margot replied, “I had a car accident and lost my memory. I’ve forgotten everything about him, including Robin. I’ve been observing during this time and realized I’m not happy with my life. So why not just divorce? What have I done wrong?”
Lynn stared at her and suddenly asked, “You’re pretending, aren’t you?”
Margot was nervous, but furrowed her brows and said, “What?”
Lynn snorted coldly and said, “You’re my daughter; I know exactly what you’re thinking. Your amnesia is fake, isn’t it? You’re. intentionally creating trouble for Halsey, aren’t you?”
Margot felt a chill run down her spine. She never expected Lynn to expose the truth so soon. However, she absolutely would not admit it and said, “I’m not pretending. I really lost my memory. Besides, why would I pretend?”
Lynn said, “It’s because Halsey did not treat you well. You’re stirring things up to force him to treat you better.”
Margot only felt suffocated. Actually, Mom is aware that I’m not happy. However, for five years, they never cared about my well–being. not even after knowing I had a car accident.
Lynn continued, “You can do whatever you want, but not divorce. You’re shameless but we’re not. The matter five years ago has finally calmed down. I don’t want it to be mentioned again.”
Margot looked at her and asked, “Even if Halsey has a lover, I can’t divorce?”
However, Lynn did not care. “What’s wrong with that? Your father has many lovers. Didn’t I still secure my position as Mrs. Hudson?” Margot felt even more sulforated now.
Lynn continued, “You and Halsey already have a son. Your position is secured now. Don’t let your imagination run wild. You’re not allowed to get a divorce, did you hear me?”
Margot stood up abruptly and went upstairs. Lynn was displeased. “Margot, I’m talking to you. Did you hear me?”
Margot felt tense. She did not dare to speak, afraid that she would break down if she was not careful. The obstacle to divorce is not only Elolicy but also my family!
When she returned to her room, Margot looked ahead in a daze. Her tears fell uncontrollably. It’s so unbearable!
At this moment, her phone vibrated. She took out her phone and her pupils constricted.
