Chapter 18 Coaxing Him
“Get out of my way! Who do you think you are, locking me up?”
A mother’s love knows no weakness. Although Ladonna looked delicate, she bravely held Izabella in her arms and protected her.
She tried to push her way out with Izabella, but the crowd blocked her
escape.
They reached a deadlock. At this moment, Corbin came back.
Spotting Ladonna carrying Izabella in the distance, he thought they were playing a game and ran up to them, giggling.
“Mommy, what game are you playing? I wanna join!”
As he spoke, Corbin stretched out his hand and held Ladonna’s legs. She looked down and saw the adorable boy.
The frightened Izabella extended her hand and said, “Coby.”
During the days Ladonna was unconscious, Corbin had kept Izabella company through play, so they bonded like siblings.
As Izabella squirmed eagerly toward Corbin, Ladonna reluctantly gave up her escape plan and lowered the wriggling girl to the ground.
“Coby, does your daddy always boss people around like this? How can he lock us up?”
Ladonna took out the toys, and the two children played in the living room. She looked at Corbin with feigned casualness and asked the question.

Chapter 18 Coaxing Him
Playing toys with Izabella, Corbin explained absent–mindedly, “Mommy, Daddy has always been like this. Just hug him and say sweet words, and
he’ll soften.”
Sweet words? Cedric was a grownup, but he needed coaxing?
Ladonna was bewildered. In fact, Corbin didn’t mean that she should coax
Cedric as if he was a child.
She should flatter him. If she pleased Cedric, she could make her request
with him.
The sweet charm worked on him.
Evidently, Ladonna failed to get it.
When Cedric came back from outside, he saw Ladonna sitting on the carpet with Corbin and Izabella, who were playing with toys in the living
room.
Corbin was smiling brightly, and Ladonna spoke to the two children in an extremely gentle voice.
The living room finally had a touch of home.
Ladonna soon sensed the gaze on her. She looked up and met Cedric’s eyes, unprepared.
Recalling Corbin’s advice, Ladonna steeled herself to rise and went up to Cedric.
“Cedric, you’re home. Are you tired? I…” She tried her best to soften her voice, and her tone was coaxing.
Cedric was taken aback. He frowned and gazed at her in confusion.
“What’s wrong with you?” He raised Ladonna’s chin and stared at her

unblinkingly as if trying to see her through.

Ladonna felt embarrassed and shook his hand away, turning to leave with a frown.
Cedric chuckled softly at her mood swings.
Why did Ladonna suddenly behave so strangely?
Back in her room, Ladonna threw the blanket over her head and kicked it frantically, trying to forget what had just happened.
Didn’t Corbin say coaxing was useful?
Why did Cedric look at her as if she was a fool just now?
The door was suddenly pushed open and it disrupted her train of thought.
Cedric said, “Dinner’s ready.”
Ladonna said flatly, “I’ll skip it.”
She felt her tone was too harsh, so she forced herself to soften a bit and repeated.
“I don’t wanna eat. Enjoy the dinner, Cedric…‘
She didn’t hear the sound of the door closing. The blanket that covered her face was removed.
