Chapter 8 Be With Me
Motherless, Corbin was never enthusiastic about his birthday. This was the first time he’d wanted to celebrate it.
However, he ended up wounded deeply because of Ladonna.
After having some cake, Corbin went to his room, sickly.
In the middle of the night, a not–so–unfamiliar number called Cedric.
“Mr. Ferguson, please help me!”
Ladonna’s crying disturbed the peace of Cedric’s heart.
He’d decided to ignore her. But when she showed her helplessness to him…
He was silent for a long while before he responded in a hoarse voice, “I can help you. On one condition, though.”
A moment later, he hung up and had the helicopter ready.,
“Daddy, was that Mommy? Where are you going? Take me with you.”
Corbin ran over when he heard Cedric talking on the phone.
Cedric peered at the boy. “Didn’t you say you wouldn’t see her again?”
“L…I was mad back then. I love Mommy. How could I not see her?” Corbin got into Cedric’s arms coyly and mumbled.
Like father, like son. Cedric realized Corbin had the same attitude toward Ladonna as he did.

No time to waste. Cedric put a coat on Corbin silently before getting on the helicopter with the boy.
Ten minutes later, three helicopters landed on a mountain.
Cedric and Corbin strode out as soon as the cabin door opened. Walking in front of the group, Cedric wore a black suit accentuating his long legs and slim figure. His gorgeous face was flawless. There was a menacing look in his intense eyes.
Ladonna stopped trembling when she saw him. The sight of him was like a magic cure sedating her.
Corbin broke free of Cedric’s grasp and rushed anxiously to Ladonna first.
“Mommy! You were hurt. Why are you covered in blood?”
Ladonna shook her head. “Don’t worry.”
Layton threatened to crash the truck like a madman. Although he turned the wheel and suffered the most serious impact himself in the end, the truck ran off the road. Afraid, the driver ditched the truck and fled in a vehicle.
Ladonna was in a coma for hours. Thanks to her will to survive, she thought of calling Cedric at a critical moment.
She was grateful that Cedric had come to her rescue. She had thought he wouldn’t care even if she died.
Ladonna looked up at him. A warmth ran through her heart when she met his intense eyes.
“Thank you, Mr. Ferguson. You saved my life.”
Cedric didn’t reply. Seeing her injury, he frowned and had the doctor treat her.

Ignore me. There are other people wounded in the vehicle. I’m married. Mr. Beasley’s condition is worse…”

Ladonna wasn’t concerned about Layton. She just didn’t want him to die because of her.
Cedric’s face darkened. He scoffed, “You’re so attached to your fiancé.”
“No. I want him alive because I’m gonna sue him for murder.”
Layton attempted to kill her. Although he risked his own life to save her at a critical moment, the harm done to her was too much.
Cedric cast Ladonna a long stare before arranging for his men to save Layton
As Ladonna said, Layton was severely injured. Broken glass was all over him.
After the guards carried him into a helicopter, the helicopter took off.
With an injured foot, Ladonna couldn’t walk on her own. Corbin helped her with a deeply concerned expression
He was even mad at her for not coming to his birthday party. Now, he felt awful at the thought of it.
“Mommy, sorry…”
“What for? Oh, right. It’s your birthday today.” Ladonna patted her head when she remembered it. “Sorry I didn’t make it to your birthday party. The gift was ruined.”
“Hechee. Mommy, you’re with me on my birthday. That’s the best gift I can wish for.”
Corbin smiled sweetly. Happiness was plain in his eyes.

Ladonna felt better. She decided to buy Corbin a new birthday gift in a few days.
They walked slowly. Running out of patience, Cedric turned around and carried Ladonna in his arms.
“Silly woman, why didn’t you tell me your foot was injured?”
“It’s unnecessary. I can walk…”
Ladonna stopped struggling when she met Cedric’s sharp eyes.
Well, it wouldn’t hurt to let the heir to the Ferguson family serve her for
once.
Having just had a near–death experience, Ladonna was devoured by fear. With her head resting on his firm chest, she felt safe.
They arrived at the hospital soon by helicopter.
Ladonna saw Izabella in the lobby.
“Mommy! Boohoo! Mommy!”
The girl cried in fear when she saw the blood on Ladonna.
“Sweetie, don’t be afraid. I’m OK. Were you hurt?”
Ladonna called Cedric for help mostly because of Izabella.
“Mommy, I’m fine. Mommy, you’re bleeding. Hurry to see a doctor.”
Ladonna examined Izabella carefully. She didn’t address her wound until she was certain her daughter was fine.
After midnight, everything was finally settled.
Corbin and Izabella fell asleep.

Ladonna stroked Corbin’s soft hair and offered gently, “You two can spend the night in my place.”
Cedric turned to her abruptly. Ladonna was spooked.
She stuttered nervously, “I mean…my place is close. It’s only a ten–minute drive.”
Cedric nodded. He had the guards put the two kids in another car, and he drove Ladonna home personally.
Soft, melodious piano music was played in the car.
Yet oppressed by Cedric’s powerful, cold aura, Ladonna couldn’t enjoy
the music.
Now and then, Cedric would steal glances at her through the rearview mirror. The gloomy look in his eyes was filled with complex emotions. It was sharp enough to bore into bones and impossible to ignore.
Ladonna tucked some stray hair behind her ear and broke the silence. “Thank you for your help today.”
Cedric was quiet for a while before responding, “I helped on one condition. Remember?”
“What is it?” To get his help, she had accepted his condition without even knowing what it was.
Ladonna’s back went as stiff as a board with nervousness. She couldn’t breathe.
Cedric stopped the car outside the apartment building and leaned closer to Ladonna.
Her long hair cascaded down her shoulders, disheveled yet with a beauty of freshness. Her eyes were like those of a lady from an ancient painting.

Her eyelashes fluttered like dancing butterflies. With a delicate nose, fine cheekbones, and rosy, full lips, she was ever so enchanting.
Cedric’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Before Ladonna could move away, he held the back of her head, pulled her closer, and kissed her hard on the lips.
Taken aback, Ladonna groaned.
Cedric made her look up while he kissed her passionately.
She didn’t resist, thinking this was the condition he was referring to.
It was a long, hot kiss.
She could feel his body seemed to be burning up.
Cedric gradually stopped kissing her, his eyes afire.
“Ladonna, be with me.
“You have three days to think about it. If your answer is no, I’ll kidnap
you.”
Ladonna’s heart skipped a beat. It turned out this was what he wanted.
She looked down and murmured, “Why me?”
“Why? OK. I’ll tell you.”
He took her hand, moved it to his hard manhood, and said slowly in an earnest and firm tone, “Only you can arouse it.”
