Chapter 10
“Nadia’s divorce cooling–off period has just two weeks remaining. Once it’s over, we’ll hold the mating ceremony, Alpha Kingston,” Marcus said calmly to my father.
My father nodded in approval and let out a heavy sigh. “If Nadia had chosen you from the start, she wouldn’t have suffered all this pain.”
He looked at me with a mixture of concern and sadness in his eyes. “She’s lost so much weight… even her gaze is exhausted. The years she spent with Roland were nothing but torment.”
Marcus didn’t hold back–he laid everything he’d discovered bare before my father.

When he finished, my father’s face darkened, anger rising like an unstoppable tide. “That bastard! I knew from the start he was no
good. But to think he had a mistress hidden all this time!”
He slammed his palm against the table. “That son of a bitch dared to touch my daughter?! Rhoskar Pack doesn’t deserve to exist!”
In the southern Pack Alliance, Amavorn Pack and Drakemere Pack are the most formidable forces. Would destroying Rhoskar Pack take more than a phone call? Not likely.
Just as my father’s voice faded, I entered the room. “Dad,” I said steadily, “I want to deal with Roland myself.”
“Nadia,” my father frowned, his tone heavier

with concern. “You still haven’t let go of that bastard, have you? He betrayed the bond between you–you still think there’s something worth saving?”
Even my mother couldn’t hold back her frustration anymore. “Sweetheart, you severed ties with us for him back then. And now? You’re still protecting him?”
They remembered vividly the battles I waged for Roland years ago, the scenes of fiery arguments that had left scars in our family. To them, every word I spoke now seemed like the same old story–a litany of excuses for him.
I prepared to defend myself, but Marcus stepped forward instead. “Alpha Kingston, Luna Maya, you’re misunderstanding her. She’s not protecting him; she wants to deal her vengeance personally.”

He turned to my worried parents with a reassuring smile. “She’s returned home now. Let’s trust her.”
I stared at Marcus, utterly stunned. Of all people, he was the one who believed in me the most.
“Nadia,” Marcus said gently, his voice grounding me like solid earth, “whatever you decide to do, I’ll stand by you.”
Seeing Marcus’s unconditional faith in me after all these years, my parents exchanged a glance, the tension on their faces gradually shifting into warm smiles.
“Baby Girl,” my father said softly, “you’ve already lost seven years. Now that you’re back, don’t let him slip through your fingers again.”

I couldn’t stop the tears that welled in my eyes. I nodded firmly, my voice cracking with emotion as I replied, “This time, no matter what happens, I’ll never lose him again.”
Turning to the mate who should have been mine from the beginning, I declared, “Let’s hold the mating ceremony next month. I want it to be the grandest ceremony the southern Pack Alliance has ever seen.”
Marcus’s eyes widened in disbelief, as though he couldn’t fully grasp what I’d just said. He had always known that part of my return involved revenge, but he’d never let that deter him.
For years, he thought he would have to fight tooth and claw to win back my heart. He never imagined I would truly want to marry him.

Seeing his hesitation, I began to falter. “Does this feel too rushed to you?” I asked.
“No,” he quickly shook his head, his voice almost too fast with urgency. “It’s just… hard to believe that you really want to mate with me.”
He took my hands, his gaze piercing into mine as if solidifying a vow. “Be my mate, Nadia–I promise on my claws and teeth, I will tear apart anyone who dares to hurt you.”
His words weren’t just promises; they were the bloodied essence of his soul laid bare to me. Through tear–clouded eyes, I smiled and whispered back, “I believe you, Marcus.”
My parents shared knowing glances, their faces glowing with newfound ease and joy. They’d always thought Marcus was the ideal

mate for me, and now, standing beside him, their relief was palpable.
In the days that followed, I officially took over Amavorn Pack. My schedule was almost impossibly full, with the double excitement of managing the pack and preparing for the alliance between Amavorn and Drakemere Packs. News of the
upcoming mating ceremony spread quickly across the southern Pack Alliance, and whispers of the event reached every corner.
One night, like clockwork, Marcus came to pick me up after work.
“I’ve scheduled an appointment with the bridal shop tomorrow,” he said, practically brimming with anticipation. “I just need to know if the new Alpha Nadia might squeeze in some time.”

Since stepping into my new role, I’d been drowning in responsibilities. Our moments together had been scarce; deep into the night had often been the only stretches where we could see each other. Realizing how little time I’d been giving back to Marcus, I slipped my arms around his neck, apologizing softly, “I’ve been trying to adjust to everything here. There’s so much I still don’t know–but no matter how busy I get, I’d never miss a chance to try on my wedding dress.”
“Tomorrow,” I promised, “we’ll go together.”
Marcus’s smile radiated satisfaction. “Good.”
Ever since I came back to Amavorn Pack, Marcus had moved into the apartment near my office, making everything simpler. That night, fresh from a shower, I walked into the bedroom only to find him sitting on the

bed, his expression clouded with unspoken thoughts.
“Marcus?” I asked while toweling my damp hair. “What’s wrong? If you won’t tell me, just know–I’ll always find out for myself.”
In the blink of an eye, he rose, stepping toward me with undeniable purpose. Wrapping his arms around me, he held me tight–too tight, as though he feared I might vanish.
“Nadia,” his voice fell hoarse and low, practically a growl. “If Roland comes back for you… would you leave me?”
