Chapter 3
“Fine, then, get a divorce! After every vile thing you’ve done, I couldn’t care less about staying with you. But remember this–you’re the one I’m leaving behind!”
With that, I turned and walked away.
Behind me, I could still hear Georgia’s concerned voice.
ས
“Jerry, are you alright? Do you need to go to the hospital? Robbie is too cruel–no matter what, she shouldn’t have treated
that!”

going to regret this!”
Regret?!
What a joke! The only regret I have is ever marrying him.
But when I thought of the past–the moments we shared–tears involuntarily streamed down my face.
I realized I would never forgive Jeremy.
I could never forgive the man who once loved me so much, but had now turned into this stranger.
I wanted to confront him, to ask what those past moments meant anymore!
What about the “I love you” and “I’ll take care of you for a lifetime” he once promised?!

He had been the only thing keeping me going through those long years…
How… how could it all fall apart so easily?
As I stepped outside the hotel, I saw a long black Lincoln limousine parked by the door, with a man wearing gold–rimmed glasses and a smile standing outside.
I recognized him instantly–he was the secretary of Leroy, the head of the Corbyn family.
Seeing me, he walked toward me and invited me into the car.
“Please get in, Ms. Ruiz. The sir is expecting you.”
Leroy wanted to see me?!

I narrowed my eyes, a sharp sting of defiance in them.
Without a word, I slipped into the car, my movements deliberate and subdued.
The strange text message that led me here was just the beginning. What I found in that bed was beyond shocking–Leroy’s nephew and his fiancée, tangled together. And now, his secretary was waiting for me outside.
If none of this had anything to do with him, I wouldn’t believe it for a second.
But… why was Leroy looking for me? What could he possibly want?
I recalled how people spoke of Leroy, the man who wielded control over the entire Corbyn family.

“Young genius” and “genius doomed by fate” were the two phrases that defined him before and after the car accident.
The only thing that remained unchanged was the word “genius,” a testament to his excellence and strength.
Only fools like Jeremy and Georgia would believe that Leroy was ruined just because of a car accident.
But why had he sought me out?
A bold guess began to form in
form in my mind
Maybe… I still had another choice.
When the car arrived at its destination, I saw
Leroy.

The handsome man, even seated in a wheelchair, still exuded the commanding presence of someone in power.
Suddenly, I remembered the first time I met Leroy.
At that time, Jeremy and I had just gotten married, and I was sent by my mother to visit the head of the Corbyn family.
I had expected him to be an insufferably difficult person to deal with, but when he sat in the shadows, he only asked me one question, and his voice carried a hint of quiet
sorrow.
“Ms. Ruiz, have you truly made up your mind to marry Jeremy?”
I was taken aback by his question and, in a daze, I blurted out a reply.

“Why wouldn’t I?”
He shook his head, offering a soft laugh before simply saying,
“I understand now. Please see Ms. Ruiz out.”
After that, I never saw him again. All I knew about him came from various online reports.
And those reports had nothing but praise for him.
Unfortunately, the latest piece of news was:
“The head of the Corbyn family, Leroy, tragically suffered a car accident and became paralyzed, a genius fallen…”
At this thought, I glanced regretfully at his long legs, hidden under a blanket.
