Neysa was already at the door to greet him, making sure he noticed her right away.
As I expected, Damien’s gaze locked onto her instantly.
He hurried to her side, taking her hand with a look of concern. “Who dared to mess with you? Darling, tell me, and I’ll take care of them!”
I watched in cold silence as these two shameless fools played their part. Every time there was a school event for Adalia, he claimed he was too busy to attend.

The anger on his face shifted to shock.

But he showed no sign of discomfort; instead, he adjusted his collar and retorted coldly, “I was just trying to save face for you. Since you’re so keen on being disrespectful, don’t blame me for being harsh!”
My daughter was shaking with rage. “Are you even human?”
I felt my temper flare as I spun, delivering two hard slaps across his face.
