Chapter 8
Thanks to Alexis and his little scandal, my parents and I were forced to scramble -personally calling every friend, elder, and pack ally to explain what the hell had happened.
At the same time, we had to coordinate with the wedding planners, the hotel, the florist, the band–basically everyone–to clarify that the bride had changed. That there was no more bride. Not this one, anyway.
Meanwhile, Cecilia, ever the drama queen in heat, decided to take things up a notch. She launched a livestream with the oh–so–humble title: “Wedding of the Century.”
“Darlings,” she purred into the camera, sugary sweet, “all that drama before? Just

jealousy. People trying to tear me and Alexis apart because they couldn’t stand to see true love win. But guess what? I’ve got exciting news–Alexis and I are getting married! And we’re even inviting lucky fans to attend!”
Then she spun the camera to show off a lavish, glittering ballroom–the exact same venue my family had booked. Rows of elegant seats, gilded décor, and enough space to host three whole packs. My stomach twisted.
She flipped the camera back to herself, flushed with joy and triumph, waving a freshly issued marriage certificate like it was a golden ticket to heaven.
“And look!” she giggled. “This is my wedding dress!”

1000MG, this is better than any Luna drama I’ve slover read!”
Cecilia is a QUEEN! A real–life Cinderella marrying her Alpha!”
“They’re glowing–soulmates for sure!”
Cecilia basked in the praise, fluttering her lashes and thanking every single comment with a “mwah.” She didn’t forget to throw in a few passive–aggressive jabs at me either, all dressed up in faux sweetness.

Fine. She wanted public? Let’s go public.
I sent a superchat that hit the stream like a thunderclap during a pack meeting:
“Gorgeous setup. One question though–has anyone paid for it yet? Alexis and you still owe me compensation.”
Cecilia froze mid–pose. Her smile faltered.
Then came the avalanche.
“Cecilia, kindly settle the 1 million dollars owed to Evermoon Bridal.”
“JC Weddings still waiting for full payment.”
“TALOTA Hotel says your balance is overdue. Please clear ASAP”

The fan chat was instantly buried by a flood of payment demands–from verified, official business accounts. There was no mistaking it.
I nearly choked on my water.
Seriously? Streaming like a Luna on her coronation day while swimming in debt?
Cecilia’s face went from glowing to ghost–white. She struggled to keep smiling, but her voice cracked as she snapped:
“Ugh–trolls these days are so desperate. See you in court!”
And just like that, she slammed the stream shut.
I sat back, stunned. Not because I was shocked–Cecilia had always been bold–but

at this level of delusion? Scolding real, official
vendors on a livestream? That took a special kind of nerve.
Right on cue, Alexis called me.
I didn’t answer. What was there to say? Your mate–turned–mistress just made a fool of herself in front of ten thousand people?
Cecilia started this circus. Let her and Alexis perform.
As for us? We just had to make sure everyone knew I wasn’t the one getting married. That mattered in our pack, especially with gift–giving traditions–red envelopes, cash gifts, heirlooms passed down in trust. If someone thought they were giving a blessing to me, only for it to land in Cecilia’s lap, we’d be the ones blamed.

Still, we didn’t stop anyone from attending the wedding if they really wanted to.
But when I saw how furious some people were–how their wolves were ready to snap- I gently advised them to sit this one out. Just imagine: a majestic ballroom, extravagant decorations, and no guests. Let the silence humiliate them louder than words ever could.
The vendors? That part was easy. All the down payments had been made by my family. Every contract listed me as the client. With the bride now switched, they were free to work with Alexis–just as long as I got my refund, per the agreement.
I even told them I wouldn’t pursue any further legal claims. No drama. Just give me what’s owed, and they could deal with the rest.

In a weird way, I should probably thank Alexis for his little “mate–swap” stunt. Without it, I might’ve had to eat those deposits and pretend it was charity.
But now?
Now I couldn’t help but wonder–without my family’s name, could they even afford that dress?
As it stood, their total debt was over ten million dollars.
I was genuinely curious how the happy couple planned to claw their way out of that
one.
