Chapter 2
Haylie directly shattered the glass cup, holding the sharp shards and gesturing towards her own throat, threatening Alberto.
“If you don’t get divorced today, I might as well be dead!”
Alberto, who was originally prepared to perfunctorily finish the task, completely panicked.
Anxiously, they grabbed my wrist and instinctively squeezed it, leaving a deep red handprint. They urgently told me.
“Today we had to get the divorce certificate, otherwise Haylie couldn’t bear it!”
In that moment, I realized.
Even if I married Alberto a hundred or a thousand times, his childhood friend would always be more important.
“Okay, okay, everything has been done, let’s go home.”
Alberto pulled Haylie into the car.
I habitually prepared to open the passenger seat door and sit down, but I was stopped by Haylie.
She pouted, looking displeased.
“Emelia, now you and Alberto were no longer married, it wouldn’t be appropriate to still be sitting in Alberto’s car!”
I subconsciously glanced at Alberto.
He frowned slightly, reached out and pulled Haylie, but was pushed away.
“Alberto, what I said was the truth. Both you and Emelia have already obtained divorce certificates. If someone sees you both sitting in the same car, do you think they would assume?”
“And Emelia, you always had to get married, why couldn’t you just keep a little distance from your ex–husband?”
She spoke fluently and every sentence made sense.
Alberto could only give me a helpless look.
“Emelia… Look at this…”
His words were not yet finished, but I understood his meaning.
The soft flesh in my mouth was bitten to a pulp.
In the midst of speaking, it seeme
to carry a faintly sweet and fishy smell.
“It’s okay, I walked back by myself.”
When I said this sentence, Haylie immediately sat satisfied in the passenger seat.
Before leaving, Alberto looked at me with apology and guilt, and comforted me in a low voice.
“Emelia, don’t mind. Haylie was in a bad mood today, so she acted out a bit.”
“Wait for me while I comforted her, and once she calmed down, we will get married and never separate again!”
I didn’t say a word.
Alberto also left driving under Haylie’s urging.
I believed him seven times for the same sentence.

Believed every time, deceived this time.
The first divorce happened when Alberto forgot Haylie’s birthday.
The second divorce, Haylie lost her beloved cat.
The third divorce, Haylie had a nightmare, saying that she dreamt Alberto got married and didn’t want her anymore.
And this time, Alberto prepared a gift for me, without her share.
One time after another, it became more and more absurd.

But every time, Alberto was willing to compromise for her, to give up
Over the years, I have argued, fought, and unwillingly struggled.
It was always a result.
on me.
After I was pacified, I still followed Haylie’s every move in my own way.
Now, the divorce has happened for the eighth time.
I also let go and gave up.
After loving for so many years, even the passionate love cannot compare to the repeated cold water.
I walked back to Alberto’s house in a daze.
I heard laughter and playfulness coming from inside before the door was opened.
Alberto’s face was covered in flour, and his body was also covered in a lot of white dust.
Vaguely remembered, he suffered from a serious case of cleanliness obsession. Once, I accidentally splattered a drop of oil on him while eating, and Alberto scolded me harshly.
But now, for Haylie, not even a speck of anger arises, even though covered in flour from head to toe.
When Alberto saw me coming back, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Hang the waistband on me, without giving me a single moment of rest.
“Emelia, you finally came back. Hurry up and cook, both Haylie and I are hungry.”
Haylie sat arrogantly on the sofa and condescendingly spoke to me.
“Today I wanted to eat stewed beef, and I remembered that the meat should be tender and soft.”
I burst into laughter immediately.
He directly asked a question.
“Can’t you cook if you want to eat? With all the fuss you guys make, what kind of food can’t be made?”
