Gregory pursed his lips and fell silent.
Linda Claire was angry, pushing Gregory’s
shoulder.
Gregory got the signal, raising his head to
lecture me:
“Bethany, even if your show and Claire’s
overlap, there should be a first–come, first-
served rule, right? Talk to Nathan, have him
continue investing in Claire’s show.”
“Your family is wealthy. Without that
investment, the show can still go on.”
“And didn’t we agree that after marriage,
you’d focus on the home and I’d focus on my
career? Why did you suddenly want to have
another show?”
I smiled, “Aren’t I getting a divorce?”

Linda Claire was stunned, looking at Gregory
in disbelief asking-

“You’re getting divorced?”
Gregory remained silent.
Although he was currently powerless, his
pride and self–respect were innate.
He didn’t want Linda Claire to know about the
divorce.
I had investigated Linda Claire after my
rebirth.
She and Gregory dated in high school and
attended the same college.
But they broke up shortly after.
Linda Claire’s family disapproved of Gregory.
Then, Gregory met me.
I found it hard to tell if Gregory had proposed
and gotten married out of spite or genuine
feelings.
I used to shame myself for my past
foolishness and even loathe my past self.
But after restarting my career, I realized that

instead of dwelling on the past, I should live
differently.
As for Gregory and Linda Claire.
If they loved each other, my divorce might be
what they needed.
Liam, after all, resented me for keeping them
apart.
I wondered if the jobless Gregory and soon-
to–be–fallen Linda Claire would still be so
affectionate in their old age.
Taking Linda Claire’s words, I smiled at Liam.
“Yes, we’re going to the courthouse
tomorrow, did Gregory not tell you?”
“But, it’s just the application, there’s a
month–long cooling–off. period, he might still
have some hope.”
“Gregory, aren’t you curious about my reason
for divorce?”
Gregory looked up suddenly, instinctively
asking:

“What is it?”
I pointed at Liam.
“This child, he looks quite like you.”
“Why don’t you two get a paternity test?”
Gregory was shocked, and Linda Claire yelled
that it was impossible.
Linda Claire glared at Gregory, pulling Liam
and leaving.
Gregory sat there, lost in thought.
