The more Emery thought about it, the sadder she got, and her
tears fell even harder.
It wasn’t long before the game ended, and quite a few families
came out with their kids one after another.
Bethany was left by Sir Harmon, talking with a few judges
about quilting.
Kyson saw that Terrence’s car hadn’t left, so he stood at the door
waiting, wanting to see the show.
After about ten more minutes, Bethany and Julio came out of
the venue together.
Terrence got out of the car right away.
“Terrence.” Krista stopped him, “You saw what happened today.
If you go get Beth, it’ll just make things worse between her and
Emery. Is that really what you want?”
Emery didn’t dare cry out loud and just sobbed in Krista’s arms.
Seeing his son looking so hurt and upset, Terrence frowned
even more.

Looking over at Bethany again, Kyson was talking to her. Kyson
was by her side, so he didn’t have to worry.
After thinking for a while, he got back into the cab and drove
away.
Back at Vespera Villa, Emery rushed to his room and locked the
door.
Today he happily went to the quilting contest, but came back
disappointed, and it was all because of Mom!
“Emery.“”
Krista stood at the door, anxiously trying to persuade, “Don’t be
upset, listen to me, open the door, if anything’s wrong, talk to
me.”
Terrence didn’t have time to lecture Emery right now, and if he
waited any longer, Bethany would be leaving the country with
Davon tomorrow.
At that moment, he was overwhelmed.
In a low, dull voice, he said to Krista, “Can you watch Emery for
me? I’m heading out.”
Krista asked worriedly, “Emery was so moody, were you really

“Bethany was going abroad with Davon tomorrow.“”
Krista quickly said, “Alright then, you go take care of Beth first,
I’ll handle Emery.”
“Good job.”
After that, Terrence hurried off.
Krista looked at his determined back as he walked away, her
fists clenched tightly.
He really started to care more and more about that mute.
Bethany did all this lately just to get Terrence’s attention.
She couldn’t wait any longer!
If this kept going, it would probably be hard to turn things
around later.
After Terrence got in the car, the first thing he did was call
Kyson.
The call went through, and Terrence’s voice sounded a bit
impatient, “Where are you?”

“What did you ask about my business for? I had the right to
remain silent.”
“With Bethany, right?”
Kyson rubbed his temples, “What exactly did you want?”
“Send me the location.”
Terrence’s tone didn’t allow any argument.
“Hey, what did you say? Hey, I couldn’t hear you. Maybe the
signal was bad… I’ll hang up first.”
Kyson hung up the phone.
There was almost a blazing fire in Terrence’s eyes.
He picked it up and called Michael.
Michael happened to have something to report to Terrence, too.
“Mr. McConnell, Mrs. McConnell’s mother and grandmother’s
graves were fixed. Do I need to tell Mrs. McConnell?”
“No need, go check where she was. Also, check what time her

and Davon’s flight was for tomorrow.”
Terrence closed his phone and waited for Michael’s message.
Bethany’s look today kept popping up in front of his eyes.
So cold.
From start to finish, I didn’t pay any attention to him.
