Chapter 26
“Dummy, can you concentrate when you’re eating?”
Bethany put down her phone. When she just picked up her
fork, the phone rang again.
It was still Terrence.
Bethany hung up and turned off her phone.
Terrence heard the dial tone.
When he called Bethany again, a mechanical female voice came
from the phone. “Sorry, the number you dialed is not available.”
Terrence’s face darkened. He grabbed his coat and was ready to
go out.
Emery’s crying came behind him.
“Krista, I don’t want you to leave.”
Terrence turned around.
Krista took her suitcase out of the bedroom, and Emery tightly
held her hand.
Chapter 26
Terrence walked over.
“What’s wrong?”
“Terrence, you should talk to Emery. I really need to go back.”
Krista’s face showed distress.
Terrence’s tone was full of concern. “Is it because of today’s
news?”
“Terrence, we…” Krista turned her head, struggling to say, “I
don’t want to put you in that awkward position. Dad just called
me, saying he arranged a marriage for me and asked me to go.
back and meet that man.”
“Krista, don’t leave, okay? My teacher referred me to participate
in a children’s papercutting competition, and I hope you can go
with me…
Emery shook Krista’s hand, pleading with tears.
Krista looked very sad. She squatted down, gently wiping
Emery’s tears.
“Emery, I really want to stay with you, but my schedule has
been delayed for several days, and your great–grandfather is
urging me to go back. When I have time, I will definitely come

back, okay?”
Emery turned his head, looking at Terrence eagerly.
“Dad, last time you took Krista to the school for the activity, my classmates and teachers all thought she was my mom. If I go to the competition this time and they find that my mom is a different person, they will definitely ask me many questions. I don’t want others to know my mom can’t speak…”
“Emery, how can you look down on your mom? It’s not her fault
she can’t speak. If your mom hears what you said, how sad she would be? How about this, during the competition, let your dad
or your aunt go with you. Don’t talk about your mother like
that again, okay?” Krista said.
Terrence thought for a moment, then said, “Krista, since Emery needs you, just stay. Bethany is a mute, and Emery is grown up.
I can understand he’ll feel embarrassed in school.“”
“But…”
Krista stood up, bit her lip, and said, “It will cause you trouble if I stay here.”
Terrence held onto Krista’s suitcase, pulling it into the bedroom.
Krista and Emery followed.
Chapter 26
“Terrence, don’t argue with your family for me. You know, I
will feel guilty.”
Terrence put the suitcase down, his deep gaze falling on Krista.
“Believe me, it’s not like seven years ago anymore.”
Krista’s heart was racing.
What did he mean….
“Krista, Dad also asked you to stay. Please, don’t rush to leave,
okay?”
Krista struggled to say, “Okay, I won’t leave now.””
“I’ll go out for a while,” Terrence said.
He walked out of the villa, but then turned back, went into the
master bedroom, and took out a velvet box from his suitcase.
The diamond ring with the speaker was in this box.
Krista stood on the second–floor balcony.
Terrence’s Bentley Mulsanne slowly drove away, the bright
headlights gradually disappearing from her sight.
Three hours later.
Chapter 26
Terrence’s car stopped at Bethany’s house.
Bethany was signing to Julio.
“Thank you for walking me back. You can go home now. Have a
good night.”
Bethany was about to go inside.
