“I was afraid you’d be upset.”
“After being sad for a long time, people got used to it. There
wasn’t much time left, it was okay. And I still had one more thing to do.”
“What is it?”
Bethany pressed her lips together, “It’s about Emery.”
Ever since Bethany wanted to divorce Terrence, she almost
never mentioned Emery in front of Kyson, like she was going to
give up custody of Emery.

about Emery’s future.

probably just worried about Emery.

“Tell me, what did Bethany check on Darren for?”
“How did you know she was looking into Darren?”

Kyson said, “Then let’s trade. You tell me where my little sister
is, and I’ll tell you why she was looking into Darren.”
“Kyson!”
Terrence yelled his name angrily, obviously very mad.
Kyson sneered, “Great, the way you feel now is exactly how I felt. Why is it okay for you to treat others like this, but not okay for others to treat you the same way? Terrence, you really let me down!”
Terrence knew Kyson wouldn’t tell him, so he hung up.
