Chapter 23
Terrence and Emery arrived later than she did. They had a suite.
When Krista knew about their arrival, Emery asked her to move
in with them.
“Terrence, are you up?”
“Yeah!”
Krista walked straight in.
Terrence had just come out of the bathroom, with only a white
towel around his waist.
His firm muscles, broad shoulders, and strong waist were
completely shown.
Blushing, Krista turned around swiftly.
“Sorry, I didn’t know you were taking a shower.”
Terrence grabbed a bathrobe, put it on, and fastened the belt
gracefully.
“What’s up?”
“Are you decent?”
Chapter 23
“Yes.”
Krista turned around.
“The paparazzi snapped a photo of us. Will you call Beth and
explain it?”
Terrence raised his brows. “Explain what?”
“The news outlets said they took pictures of your mysterious wife..”
Terrence paused for a moment, showing a complex expression.
He grew up with Krista, but he changed a lot over the years. He was now a sophisticated and successful businessman.
Krista couldn’t read his mind anymore.
After a moment, Terrence slowly said, “It doesn’t matter.”
Krista frowned, wondering if he really didn’t care about the
news.
Krista tried to reason with him, “But Beth is your wife.”
“She already has a marriage certificate. If that certificate can’t reassure her, she might be too anxious.”
Krista thought for a moment, then said, “Alright, I’m just worried
Chapter 23
she might overthink it. I don’t have any other issues. Good night.”
“Okay!”
Terrence didn’t say anything more, and Krista left.
Terrence lit a cigarette, glanced at the velvet box on the table. He
got up and put the box in his suitcase.
His phone rang.
He walked to the bedside table and picked up his phone.
It was Randy calling.
“Hello, Grandpa.”
“Terrence, you guys haven’t been back to the McConnell’s manor
for a long time. Why don’t you come back during the holiday? I
miss Emery!”
Terrence sat down and said, “I’m taking Emery on a trip.”
“The last day of the holiday is my birthday. Bring Beth and
Emery back to the manor. I miss the Hungarian Beef Goulash
Soup Beth cooks.”
“Got it.”
Terrence was raised by Randy.
Chapter 23
Apart from a disagreement seven years ago, they were very
close.
After ending the call, Terrence sent a message to Bethany.
“It’s Grandpa’s birthday on the 7th of this month. He wants the Hungarian Beef Goulash Soup you make. No matter where you are, you must be back at Vespera Villa by the evening of the 6th!”
Bethany was asleep. When she saw the message, it was already the next morning.
Randy…
Over these seven years, she just thought of Randy as an elder of the wealthy family. He was usually a bit serious.
Her family background was far worse than Terrence’s, and she never hoped that someone from the McConnell family would really like her.
But at the McConnell’s manor, she still did her best to play her role as Terrence’s wife.
She gave everyone in the McConnell family respect and patience.
However, after Krista appeared, Randy had serious emotional outbursts twice, which made her realize a fact.
Chapter 23
In Randy’s eyes, she was just a tool to control Terrence.
Unfortunately, Randy’s plans went wrong…
She couldn’t win Terrence’s heart.
Things became clear.
The reason Terrence married her seven years ago must be
unusual..
Bethany stopped thinking about anything related to Terrence.
Fortunately, her grandmother left her an old house.
Otherwise, she would have lost everything in marriage and
possibly ended up being left homeless.
Women who relied on a romantic relationship often lost
everything.
She ended up being one of them.
