Chapter 17 Getting Discovered
She clicked into the message.

Louis had replied. On Friday, I’ll be accompanying Mr. Sterling to meet a client at the Grand Vista Hotel. You could perhaps bring the
wit there
Jemima was confused.
Her mind was practically overflowing with questions.
Scott wants to see me again! At a hotel, ne leut
It was not just any hotel–one so secluded that no one would hear even if she screamed her lungs out.
Ihat is Mr. Sterling up to
Jemima didn’t dare to speculate..
It wasn’t that she was timid, or that she was afraid to take an opportunity that had landed right in front of her. It was that she simply couldn’t figure out this man’s temperament. She just wanted to focus on her career and avoid getting entangled in unnecessary complications.
After thinking for a while, she decided to take a page from his book and left the message unanswered.
Down in the parking garage. Louis sighed and put his phone back into his pocket.
He knew there was no need to force things, but he had a feeling Scott’s true thoughts weren’t as indifferent as they seemed. Plus, he had heard from Zander that Jemima had actively sought the job. There had to be some kind of misunderstanding between them. That was why he had taken the liberty to set this up.
Only by meeting in person could they talk things through properly.
However, Jemima was just as stubborn.
The Bentley pulled out of the complex, passing a Ferrari that was approaching from the opposite direction.
Julius parked his car by the curb outside the residential area.
His calls went unanswered, and his messages were left on read. He was about to explode.
After a while, the list of residents from the Meadow Estates that he had asked someone to investigate was sent to his phone.
But what shocked him first wasn’t seeing Jemima’s name. It was that the top–floor resident of the same building was Scott Sterling.
be from the Sterling Jamaly?
He had already heard rumors about Scott returning to the country.
The Sterling family had kept a profile in Yhuwell despite their power, and their family members rarely appeared in the public eye. Scout didn’t run in the same circles as him, but they had met a few times–back when they were fifteen or sixteen. at someone else’s banquet, Scott had been so aloof, he might as well have been a statue carved out of ice.
Jemima had secretly bought a condominium right above Scott’s. Is there a connection between the two? Is it a coincidence?
Julius couldn’t help but recall the scene at the golf course.
Two hours later, Jemima drove out of the residential area and immediately spotted the familiar Ferrari parked by the roadside. She slammed on the brakes.
Julius was senoking, the white smoke lingering around his prominent brow.
His expression was terrifying.

By the time she pulled up beside him, she had already formulated a strategy.

She took the initiative to get out of the car, opening the door to his passenger seat to slide in. Taking the offensive, she asked in a cold voice. “What are you doing here? Are you following me?”
Julius picked up the phone resting on the dashboard with the same hand holding the cigarette. He then tossed it onto her lap. Explain this.”
Jemima picked it up and saw Meadow Estates owner list displayed on the lit–up screen.
Calmly, she handed the phone back. “Tve been working for years. What’s wrong with buying a place for myself? I used my own money for the down payment. I didn’t use any of your money.”
Julius gaze sharpened. He wasn’t going to be sidetracked. “Jemima, don’t play games with me. Is this about money? Why did you buy that condominium, and why did you keep it from me?”
“I didn’t think it was necessary to tell you. I wanted a place that truly belonged to me, with my own name on the deed. Is that so unreasonable
Back then, the Stahl family had accused her of being after their money and forced her to sign a prenuptial agreement.
Taken aback. Julius snorted out loud. “All these years, have I ever been stingy with you? The jewelry and accessories I’ve given you aren’t they worth more than a house?”
Jemima said nothing.
Julius pulled out his wallet, yanked out a handful of gold and black cards, and threw them at her. “You like buying properties? Go ahead and buy as much as you want. Put your name on all of them. Buy until you’re satisfied.”
Jemima chuckled “How generous of you, Mr. Stahl
Maybe she should just accept the money, endure his betrayals, and become a numb, money–making machine.
I didn’t sound too bad.
Yet, she couldn’t accept a life where she was trapped in an endless, meaningless cycle.
She picked up the scattered cards, carefully slotting them back into his wallet one by one. “I’m not buying for now. I’ll ask you for money when I want to.
She placed the wallet on his lap and tried to pull her hand back, but Juljus caught her wrist, turning to look at her. “Do you not trust me anymore?”
Did you just realize that?
Jemima found him both exasperating and amusing. She smiled, bright and carefree. “What does trust have to do with anything? As long as you’re happy”
She withdrew her hand
Just then, her phone rang
Jemima stiffened for a moment. Ir Mr. Callen calling because I didn’t reply to his text?
Julius noticed her slight tension, and his eyes turned sharp again. “You ignore my calls, but you won’t answer other people’s either“”
Jemima had no choice but to take out her phone.
The words “Ms. Earlston” danced across the screeni
It was his mother.
Jubus saw the caller II) and relaxed. “Answer it”
The divorce was only a few days away. Her mother–in–law must be checking in to make sure she wouldn’t change her mind.

She answered the call. “I’m with your son right now. Want to say hello to him first?”

At that, Amanda swallowed whatever words she had been about to say. “No need. I just wanted to ask. Do you still want that bag you had your eye on last time?”
“Of course. I sent most of my bags for maintenance, so I could really

Julius looked suspicious. “Since when have you two become so close?”
use a new one.”
Jemima countered, “Isn’t that a good thing? Would you rather we fought all the time?”
This woman was a master at shutting people up and shifting focus.
Julius anger had cooled considerably. When he had shown her the owner list earlier, he had carefully observed her reaction. She hadn’t even glanced at Scott’s name. All her responses had revolved around him discovering she had bought a
condominium. It seemed that her living in the same building as Scott was purely coincidental.
She was just throwing a little tantrum, finding small ways to assert her independence outside of his control.
She thought buying a little condominium with her own money was a show of strength.
How childish
“Ill take you home,” he said, starting the car.
“But my car…
“I’ll have someone drive it back for you.”
Julius gave her no room for refusal or resistance. He locked the door and promptly drove off.
For the next few days, Jemima was extra cautious.
She didn’t step foot outside her house.
At the same time, she mentally prepared herself for Julius‘ reaction when he found out about the divorce.
He would be furious at first–no doubt about it,
So she wasn’t planning to face him head–on. She would leave for a trip, giving him time to cool off.
If all went as expected, he would eventually go along with it. After all, his beloved Nadie–Bear would also be pushing for a proper title. If she walked away quietly without making a fuss, he should be more than happy to let her go.
“One more thing” Amelia reminded her over the phone. “Be careful of your mother–in–law. She’s been making moves behind the scenes. I’m worried she’ll pull something?”
“Don’t worry. She’s too scared of me backing out to make a wrong move. She won’t do anything before the divorce is finalized,” Jemima replied confidently.
Amanda was broadcasting about the divorce and that they were entering a marriage alliance with the Goodwin family. Let her talk all she wanted..
On Friday afternoon, Jemima booked a flight to lapluycia. She received a call from Amanda.
It had been three days since they last spoke.
Jeinima knew she had something to say but hadn’t bothered reaching out first.
She nicked in “Hello Ms. Farkson‘

Jemima staldenly thought of Louis‘ message.
Scott is going to be at the Grand Vista Hotel today, too. Why is everyone heading there!
