Chapter 40 She Was Mistaken
Jemima emerged from the room.
She had walked a distance before she stopped. Then, she proceeded to bang her head against the wall.

When Zander returned, he chanced upon this peculiar scene. Just as he was about to approach, he received a call from Scott. Thus, he had no choice but to head over to the latter’s place first.
As soon as he walked in, he couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Sterling, did Ms. Willis have a drink too? I saw her bumping her head. on the wall in the hallway.”
Scott was rendered speechless.
He rubbed his brow with his hand before outlining some details about the next day’s work.
Just
ust as room service arrived, Zander’s stomach was also growling, so Scott invited him to sit down and share the meal.
“Jemima was winning earlier, why did you take over? After finishing his food, Scott casually asked Zander, wiping his mouth with a napkin.
The mention of the topic triggered a chuckle from Zander. “She was incredibly bold. At first, I was worried, but then she got carried away, going all–in. I was shocked by her risk appetite, so I had no choice but to make an excuse to send her away. She thought she was a professional gambler…”
Scott’s gaze faltered. “She went out?”
Zander nodded, “Yeah, I sent her over to see if you needed any assistance, but she came back shortly.”
Leaning on the couch, Scott fell into deep thought.
The next morning, Jemima woke up early.
Observing that Naomi was still asleep, she had breakfast in the dining room first. She had only had a small piece of cake on the yacht the night before, leaving her so hungry that she was tempted to go out for food at three in the morning.
After she had her fill, there was still plenty of time. She decided to take a stroll within the hotel.
The hotel was brimming with a nostalgic charm.
The tropical garden exuded a vibrant energy with tall palm trees rustling in the wind. Eyes closed, she stood beneath them, Lasking her face in the warm sunlight filtering through the leaves.
The morning breeze was gentle, and every breath was filled with the refreshing scent of lush vegetation.
Look, the world is so vibrant, passionate, and invigorating. It would never falter or fade simply because one doesn’t have a man’s love.
From a distance, the sound of footsteps gradually grew louder.
The light before her dimmed, and the fresh air was infused with the distinct scent of a man post–exercise.
She opened her eyes, and her gaze met a broad chest wrapped in a black tracksuit.
The chest was ripped, and was sweat trickling down the man’s attractive collarbones. His Adam’s apple was undeniably sexy, and his lips were a rosy hue.
“Ms. Willis, what happened to your eyes?”
Her face was caressed by a breath as soft and warm as a tropical breeze.
The handsome face leaned in, brimming with concern
Suddenly, Jemina regained her senses. She rubbed her eyes and took a step back. “The sunlight was too dazzling, and I was feeling a little dizzy.”
Scott said, “If you keep looking, not only will you feel dizzy, but you might also turn blind.”

Chapter 40 She Was Mistaken
She rubbed her eyes, reflecting on the events of the previous night and feeling somewhat embarrassed still
“Mr. Sterling, do you jog in the morning?” she asked, trying to make conversation.
Finished
Scott gave a soft hum, wiping away his sweat with a towel as he stood under a tree. Out of the blue, he spoke again. “You were the one spying on the third floor of the yacht last night, weren’t you?”
Caught off guard, Jemima swiftly turned to look at him.
Wait a second, spying? I wasn’t spying!
“I didn’t spy on you, I swear. The moment I walked up, I saw you two doing… Well, whatever it was that you were doing. I immediately left. Really, I didn’t linger or look more than I had to.”
“Doing what?” Scott asked, his expression impassive.
“Ah, doing that!”
“Explain yourself.”
Jemima was at a loss for words. Seeing him persistently staring at her, insisting that she clarify, she finally gave in and blurted out, “A kiss, a passionate kiss, alright?”
–
“You got it wrong. Scott refuted without hesitation
Jemima, of course, didn’t believe it. However, she could pretend to believe, for whether it was a kiss or not was irrelevant to
her.
She nodded, playing along. “Alright, I must have gotten it wrong.”
Scott seemed unsatisfied with her response, his brow furrowed as he stared at her. “You don’t believe me?”
“I do. I believe you.”
“I don’t enjoy kissing, especially not with women.”
You’re… you’re….
Jemima felt as though she had stumbled upon some monumental secret.
So, he has a preference for… men? Wait, isn’t he in a love–hate relationship with Ms. Atkins? Previously, he was fond of women, but now, he has taken a liking for men?
She blinked, her mind completely thrown into chaos.
Scott said. “The bottom line is that you’re mistaken. There was no such thing as a kiss. As my secretary, you cannot have such misconceptions.”
Jemima nodded repeatedly. “Alright, alright, I got it, I got it.”
Only then did Scott walk away.
Jemima watched as his towering silhouette disappeared, Um… can I not know so much about his private life!
