Chapter 51 I Am Lucky
“Naomi Atkins!” Scott’s voice rang out sharply.
Finished
His gaze locked onto hers, filled with unmistakable disappointment. “Is there anything else in your mind besides love and romance? I tried to discuss why Ms. Willis came to the factory, but you showed no interest. You didn’t care about that. All you cared about was me–and whether I had feelings for Ms. Willis,”
“You claim I care about her? Of course I do. His voice turned steely. “Because she noticed a problem you failed to see in two years. She came to audit my accounts and found irregularities.”
Naomi froze. The disappointment in his eyes twisted like a knife in her heart.
He was praising Jemima–saying she was better than her. The jealousy surged like a tidal wave.
“She says there’s a problem, and suddenly that makes it true?” Naomi scoffed. “Just because she noticed something doesn’t mean she’s right.”
Daryl interjected smoothly. “I agree with Ms. Atkins. If there really was an issue, why wasn’t the company notified first? Why wasn’t Ms. Atkins informed? She’s just trying to impress you, Mr. Sterling”
“Because there’s a traitor like you in this company!”
A weak but clear female voice rang out from the doorway.
Everyone turned, stunned.
There she was, Leaning against the doorframe, her body soaked, her face pale as paper. Scrapes marred her forehead and cheeks, her clothes clinging to her like a second skin. She looked exhausted, battered–but still breathtakingly beautiful
It was jemima!
Everyone in the company and the factory recognized her–the Jemima Willis, the woman who could brighten any room just by stepping into it.
Scott shot up from his seat and strode toward her, his eyes burning like stars in the night sky. “Jemima, you’re okay.”
A rush of relief flooded his chest, so powerful it almost consumed him. The urge to pull her into his arms was unbearable.
Jemima mustered a faint smile. “I’m lucky,” she said softly. “I won’t just die like that.”
Her grandmother’s house was by the sea, and before starting elementary school, she had lived in a fishing village. She was a strong swimmer, well–versed in navigating the waves and finding her way to safety when the currents turned rough.
By sheer luck, when she leaped and struck the rocks, it was her leg that took the damage–not her head.
At this moment, Daryl’s face was as pale as death.
N–No way. How could she have survived, let alone had the strength to make it back to the factory?
ry step sent
Of course, Jemima hadn’t made it back on her own. Her leg had been badly lacerated by the jagged rocks, and every step waves of pain shooting through her body.
She wasn’t familiar with the island and had no idea how to find her way back.
Fortunately, a kind–hearted young woman passing by on an electric scooter had given her a ride.
Jemima knew that at this very moment, Scott had to be at the factory. No matter what, she had to return and expose the vile deeds of Camron and Daryl!
“You’re hurt. I’ll take you to the hospital,” Scott said, his sharp gaze immediately locking onto the blood–soaked towel wrapped around her thigh.
“Let’s deal with the situation first. I can hold on!” Jemima’s voice was firm as she stared Daryl down, her face and lips drained of color. Yet, her striking eyes burned with unyielding fire.
Scott knew arguing with her was pointless. This woman might look delicate, but at her core, she was as fierce as they came.

“Walk slowly,” he murmured, slipping an arm around her shoulders to steady her.

But after just a few steps, he noticed her gritting her teeth, forcing herself forward despite the cold sweat beading on her forehead. Without hesitation, ignoring the stunned gazes around them, he scooped her up and carried her over to his seat in just a few strides.
The entire room was left speechless.
And yet they still claim there’s nothing going on between them? That embrace looked far too natural!
Naomi’s e
‘s eyes turned red, as if her heart had been pierced by a thousand arrows.
Jemima, on the other hand, felt nothing but relief. After barely escaping with her life, she was too exhausted to think about anything else.
On the table, Naomi’s phone was still connected.
Jemima’s gaze dropped to the screen, and the moment she saw the title, she understood everything. Her lips curled into a mocking smile.
“Mr. Cohen, how dare you? At least make sure I’m dead before you start running your mouth!”
“W–What was that, Ms. Willis? I didn’t quite catch that,” Daryl replied smoothly, feigning ignorance.
Back then, it had been just the two of them in the room. No witnesses. No physical evidence. As far as the world was concerned, it was just her word against his.
But rather than addressing Jemima, he turned to Naomi instead, skillfully twisting the situation to his advantage. “Ms. Atkins,” he
id with a heavy sigh, “she came back now, acting like she’s here to humiliate me, but in reality, her real goal is to disgrace you in front of Mr. Sterling. That’s her game–she’s as cunning as they come!”
Jemima was momentarily speechless.
This jerk really has no shame!
At first, everyone assumed Naomi wouldn’t fall for such an absurd claim. But to their shock, the very next second, Naomi’s gaze darkened with resentment. “Jemimal” she snapped. “You framed Mr. Cohen, orchestrated this whole spectacle, and dragged everyone here in the middle of the night. All just to show off how good you are at seducing men?”
Jemima’s eyes widened in disbelief. A thousand possibilities raced through her mind.
