Chapter 64 What Is Going On Between You Two
“Don’t try to change the subject!”
Jemima felt like crying but had no tears left to shed.
Finished
With no other choice, she sat Amelia down and explained how she ended up working for Scott and how their paths had
crossed.
It wasn’t like she’d been hiding anything–it was just that, up until now, the divorce had been the only thing on her mind. Every conversation with Amelia had revolved around that, leaving no room for anything else.
After hearing the full story, Amelia was stunned. “Wow, what a crazy coincidence. You sure fate isn’t setting you up for a second chance at love?”
Jemima was speechless.
“First of all he’s not interested in me. Second, I don’t need a knight in shining armor. And third, our relationship is strictly professional. He needed a secretary, and I needed to break away from Julius‘ network. Taking the executive secretary position at Zenith Group helps me rebuild my own connections. It’s just business, nothing more.”
“You’re telling me you could resist a man that good–looking?” Amelia teased.
She didn’t want Jemima to close herself off from love forever.
But Jemima scoffed. “You really think Scott would let me do whatever I want? The last woman who couldn’t resist him- someone he once loved–hadn’t seen him in years and tried to hug him. According to Zander, she almost got thrown out of
the car
“If I ever had any inappropriate thoughts about him, or even touched him on purpose, he’d probably have me dumped in a river.” She spoke with absolute certainty.
Amelia paused, then offered a sly smile. “Come on, don’t be so negative. You just touched his thigh, and he didn’t throw you anywhere, did he? Maybe you should have a little more confidence in your charm.
The moment she brought that up again, Jemima’s face flushed red. “What do you mean I touched his thigh? You pushed me! If I hadn’t reached out to stop myself, my face would’ve ended up buried in his-“She was too embarrassed to finish.
“Hahahaha!” Amelia burst into laughter, collapsing onto the couch.
Jemima rolled her eyes.
After the laughter died down, Amelia finally accepted that there was nothing going on between Jemima and Scott.
And honestly, it made sense. Jemima had spent eight years with Julius. Even if love had turned into resentment and they were divorcing, it wasn’t so easy to completely erase those emotions overnight.
Later, with Amelia’s help, Jemima took a much–needed bath.
While she was in the hospital, she hadn’t been allowed to get her wound wet, so the nurses had only been giving her sponge baths.
It had been five days since the injury. The surface wound had mostly healed, but she still had to be careful not to overexert
Upon hearing how she got hurt, Amelia frowned with concern. Convinced her friend was having a string of bad luck this year. she was determined to bring her to a church to pray and seek blessings for protection and peace,
As the sun set, Jemima stood on the balcony, watching the sky glow orange and pink. Amelia had gone out to the supermarket to grab groceries,
Jemima’s phone vibrated on the small table beside her. It was an unfamiliar number from Yhuwell.
She frowned.

She hung up. Then blocked the number
At the hospital. Julius handed his phone to Ronan. “How’s the situation with the apartment?”
Finished
“I finalized the purchase. Ms. Willis lives on the thirteenth floor. There was a unit available on the twentieth floor, and the owner agreed to sell. The transfer is done–you can move in whenever you want.”
“Good.” Julius patted his shoulder.
Before leaving for Solvenzia, he had already made up his mind–there was no way he’d let her live in the same building as Scott. Getting her to come back wasn’t going to be easy. So, the best move for now was to buy an apartment in the same building
Winning his wife back was going to be a long game. He needed patience, even if her current attitude toward him was proving difficult to handle.
The sound of soft sobs echoed from the hospital room.
Julius walked in.
Nadine’s cheeks were swollen, a small cut at the corner of her lips. Her tear–filled eyes made her look pitiful.
“Julius…” She reached out, calling softly.
“The doctor said you’re fine. Just rest a little more, and you’ll be discharged soon,” Julius said. He stood at a distance, his voice indifferent.
But compared to earlier–when he had wanted to kill her, when he had looked at her like she was nothing more than a venomous snake—his tone had softened.
A flicker of hope lit up in Nadine’s heart. She kept her hand outstretched. “Julius, can I hug you one last time?” Then, timidly. she added, “I don’t mean anything by it. It’s just… going back to being your sister makes me feel… sad,”
Tears welled up again. Most men would fall for this trick. And sure enough, Julius hesitated,
Then, after a brief pause–he stepped forward.
