“I gave you plenty of chances, but you never bothered to make them count!” Gwyneth shot back.
She went along with it when Asher first brought up taking Liana abroad with them. She let it slide again when he brought it up the second time. Those were the chances she’d given.
Kieran shook his head, looking grim. “You’ll never get it. You trampled on someone who actually cared.”
In the end, Asher ended up in prison. But it was only for a month since no one was impacted.
Kieran had found out early that Asher was planning to use the wedding to get back at Gwyneth. So, he came up with a plan to fake a wedding and spread the word to lure Asher in. He treated it like a practice run for their real wedding.
Asher took the bait but was smart. He only slipped strong laxatives into the Lauders‘ and the Paynes‘ meals to steer clear of serious charges.
The next day, Gwyneth and Yvette sat down for afternoon tea. When Yvette heard that Asher would only get a month in prison, she sighed, clearly disappointed. “What a waste. He should’ve gotten ten years.”
Gwyneth took a sip of her caffee and gave a faint smile. “I agree, but my darling doesn’t see it that way.”
“Your darling?” Yvette clicked her tongue, her expression over the top. “Just look at you now. You’re so much better than before. Asher was draining you in your last marriage, but now, Kieran’s giving you everything.
“But what’s Kieran up to? He wouldn’t have just let Asher get away with it.”
Gwyneth smirked. “We never meant to keep Asher in prison for long from the start. Kieran’s already talked to Harvey and Rosalie. They’ve agreed to send Asher to a psychiatric hospital once he’s out.”
That was the real reason Kieran went through with the fake wedding. Even though no charges were pressed against Asher, they could use this to get him sent to a psychiatric hospital for
two years.
Yvette was baffled. “His parents actually agreed? No way!”
