“…But in the fourth year, the Wilson family
had problems. Jessica had to marry you.”
“She’s idealistic about relationships, she felt
she betrayed him first, she blamed herself, so
she felt guilty towards me.”
I chuckled.
“So that’s your reason for having a child with
her and leaving me to raise it?”
く
Greg’s face changed.
No matter how he embellished their story,
The ugliness couldn’t be covered. When
Jessica told Lily that Greg was her real
father, I pieced together the timeline.
Lily was a little over four, meaning she was
conceived around our wedding.
The night before the wedding, Jessica had a
bachelorette party with her friends. She sent
me a short video to reassure me.
Greg was in it.
I formally met Greg at the wedding. Jessica
openly introduced him as her first love and
even had us exchange contact information.
After the wedding, Greg immediately flew
back to the US.
Except for a congratulatory message and red
envelope when Lily was born, Greg and I
barely interacted.
Because Jessica was so open about it, I never
く
suspected anything.
Perhaps I hit a sore spot; Greg took a sip of
coffee. I suddenly asked:
“You clearly don’t want to plead for her, why
pretend to meet me?”
A trace of embarrassment flashed in his eyes.
“Because Jessica told me last night that she
realized she loved you.”
I was stunned.
She only realized she loved me after I
mentioned divorce?
“Don’t you believe me?” Greg was indignant.
“Why do you think I kept provoking you?
Because I noticed she mentions your name
more often lately!”
“Oh, her love is being cold to me, cheating on
me, and making me raise your child.”
I found it ridiculous.
“Jessica has a strong self–esteem; she may
subconsciously reject betraying her first love
く
and falling for you, so she uses coldness to
mask it!”
I checked my watch; I realized I was too free.
To have the time to listen to Greg speak for
Jessica.
“Forget it, tell Jessica I’m not picking up her
scraps, she’s not worthy!”
Greg stood up abruptly, “Henry! You’ve gone
too far!”
A woman in a mask at the table behind Greg
stood up.
It was Jessica.
She was pale, with tears in her eyes:
“Henry, you called me… scraps, do you really
hate me that much?”
“I know I made a mistake, but…we’ve been
together for so many years, can you forgive
me this once, for old times‘ sake?”
“Jessica! Look at me! Henry is insulting you,
why are you begging him?!”
I nodded. “Yeah, you finally reunited with your
first love, and Lily is with her father, why are
you breaking them up?”
Jessica burst into tears, sobbing, “It’s all my
fault, Lily…you can’t accept her, I’ll
compensate you, we’ll have other children, I’ll
give you another one…”
“Jessica!”
Greg looked at her in disbelief, “How can you
say that? Lily will be sad!”
I felt disgusted.
“After I discovered that you made me raise
another man’s daughter for four years, your
compensation is to give me another child?
Haha.”
I was speechless.
“Jessica, understand this: I don’t need you.”
Finally, pain appeared on her face. I turned to
leave.
“Henry, Henry!”
Jessica called after me, but Greg pulled her
back.
“Jessica, give up. You saw it; the only one
who truly loves you is me!”
Greg’s intervention made me lose hope of
Jessica signing the divorce agreement.
I directly instructed my lawyer to file for
divorce. The commotion was significant; the
Wilsons couldn’t afford the shame and forced
Jessica to sign.
A month later, I finally got the divorce
certificate.
Jessica came too.
