Chapter 23 – Blast From The Past
The moment I heard that voice I froze for fifty seconds before my senses came back filled with so much rage it shook me. “Lily, what the hell?” the voice sounded again.
I took a deep breath trying to calm down but I couldn’t.
I pulled away from Damon and turned to glare at the surprised face of Jacob fucking Reynolds.
“Ugh, you’ve got to be kidding me!” I hissed, glaring at him.§
Damon stood protectively beside me, his hands wrapped around my waist.
“Lily, I searched for you and here you are sucking another man’s face,” Jacob said, sounding hurt.
I wanted to roll on the floor and howl with laughter. He dared to sound hurt because he saw me kissing a guy.
“What are you doing here?” Damon barked at Jacob.
Jacob glared at him, tightening his knuckles, “Who the fuck do you think you are? She’s my fucking wife.“}
This time I laughed. A cold laugh burst out of my mouth as I pointed at Jacob.§
“You are a clown!” I chortled.}
Jacob frowned, “What has gotten into you, Lily? What did you give her, you fucking bastard? What have you done to my Lily? She doesn’t talk and act like this and she certainly doesn’t kiss strangers in public places like this!“}
Uswung my hand and delivered a sharp slap that resounded in the hall.
Jacob was stunned as he stared at me, his eyes widening with hurt, guilt, and acceptance.
“I deserve that,” he said in a somber voice.
I turned to Damon, “Baby, how did this trash get in here?“}
Damon shrugged, “I’m sorry, Princess, it’s an open art gallery. Seems the security was a bit negligent though to just let anyone waltz through that door.“}
Jacob sighed, “I know I hurt you and I deserve this but please talk to me, Lily. I’ve been going crazy looking for you all these weeks. Why didn’t you reach out? Why didn’t you call us? How did you survive the fire? A body was found inside I thought it was you I was so –“> “Shut the fuck up, you disgusting asshole!” I snapped, interrupting his unintelligible ramblings.
Once again, Jacob stared at me, his mouth opening slightly in shock.
“Why… Why do you talk like that, Lily? You sound different,” he said.}
“Different because I’m not the cowardly woman who used to whimper and cry in a corner? Different because I’m yelling at you now and it’s not the other way around? Get out of this place, asshat!” I snapped.”
“Lily, please, just hear me out. I know I messed up but it doesn’t mean you start hooking up with random guys just to survive,” he said, his face twisted in disgust.”
I shook my head, the audacity of this evil twat was on another level. I’m going to have to knock him down a peg or two. “So you think because I left that I am sleeping with random men?” I asked, chuckling.
Jacob shook his head, “I understand you found out the truth about what happened between us and Nadine. I also understand that you left because of the fire. But I’m back now, I’ve found you, let’s go home and sort this out.”
I giggled, “Let me straighten your facts for you, Asshole. I set the house on fire and I walked away. I was burning every shred of my previous life in that fire. I died in that house, this isn’t the Lily you knew before. Back off.”
Jacob sighed, “I guess I deserved that. I’ve been mistreating you from the start and I wanna make things right. Let’s start on a clean slate, I saw what Nadine did to you. I wanna divorce her and start afresh with you. You don’t have to keep being with guys like him for money, I’ll take care of you.”
Damon tensed beside me and I patted his chest, “Don’t worry, love, you know I can handle myself,” I said to him.
Damon frowned, “I’m getting impatient, Princess. I want to call the security to drag this motherfucker outside so I can beat him until he’s pulp.”
I turned to Jacob, “Leave now, you’ve offended my fiancé.“”
Jacob’s mouth hung open in shock, “Fiance? What the fuck are you talking about, Lily? You’re marrying this clown?”
“Okay, that’s enough out of your fucking gutter mouth!” Damon snapped and punched him square in the face.”
