On my twentieth birthday, my parents laid out photographs of the most eligible heirs from across the country and told
me to choose one for an arranged marriage.
I told my father that I would leave it to chance.
The reason was simple: in my previous life, I had chosen The Elite Prince, Vincent Sterling, without hesitation, the one I had long admired.
Only after our wedding did I learn the consequences. His beloved, his true love, had been so heartbroken that she drowned her sorrows in a bar, where she was assaulted by drunkards.

He transferred all my family’s wealth to Sylvia, draining the entire Winslow fortune.
In the end, he even let her cut the brake lines, leading to a tragic car crash that killed my entire family.
But this time, fate had dealt me a different card–Cyrus Blackwood, the Syndicate Prince, a man who shunned worldly desires in favor of devotion.
However, when I showed up at the engagement banquet holding his arm, Vincent went mad.
I placed Cyrus’s photo before my parents.

I shook my head. “If it’s fate, then let’s follow it. After all, I already know what will happen if I marry him.”
My parents, seeing I had made up my mind, agreed.
“Then we’ll talk with the Blackwood family about the marriage arrangement. Both the Blackwood and Winslow families are prestigious, so to avoid unnecessary trouble, let’s keep the engagement a secret before the banquet.”
I agreed and left for a charity dinner. However, reporters, who seemed to have caught wind of the news, surrounded me as soon as I entered.
“Miss Winslow, can you confirm which family you’ve decided to marry into?”
Before I could respond, another journalist said, “Everyone knows you’re fond of Young Master Sterling. Surely, you’ve chosen him?”
I looked up just as Vincent walked into the hall, our gazes meeting.
Surrounded by cameras, his expression was as cold and disdainful as ever.

With that, his bodyguards pushed the reporters away, and he pulled Sylvia into his arms, her pale face resting against

Sylvia blushed, holding him even tighter.
Some of the young ladies nearby, who had long been disdainful of me, whispered to each other.
“So what if she’s the only daughter of the Winslow Family? Mr. Sterling doesn’t even care about her, he’s only
interested in the daughters of nouveau riche families.”
“She’s really embarrassing the Winslow name, chasing after Vincent like that.”
The mocking grew louder, and Sylvia, looking up at me from Vincent’s embrace, shot me a triumphant smirk.
I turned my head, choosing to focus on the dinner.
The organizers, however, seated him beside me.
As he sat down, his face still seething with anger, he glared at me.
“Gemma, I’ve told you countless times that I don’t want to marry you. Why won’t you let me go?“,
I’d heard this many times before, but it still stung.
“I’m not holding onto you.”
Vincent clenched his fists, slamming them onto the table, his expression more disgusted than ever.
“Then why insist on forcing me to marry you? The Winslow family thinks they can dictate my life just because of your high status? You’re trampling on my dignity. Even if we do end up married, I’ll never give you a second glance.”
He meant it. In my past life, he hadn’t spared me a single glance.
At that moment, the woman he loved more than anyone walked over, tears in her eyes. Without a word, she kneeled before me.
“Miss Winslow, I know you hate me, but my parents are innocent. You had the security guards kick them out, and my father almost had a heart attack. Please, spare us. Even if it means… letting you marry Vincent, I’m willing…”
Her words cracked with emotion. Before I could even process what she was saying, Vincent helped her up, shooting me a look of hatred.
“This has nothing to do with Sylvia! Why are you treating her like this?”
His accusation left me speechless.
“I didn’t…”
“You really are spoiled, aren’t you? Always getting your way.”
Before I could say anything, someone handed over a gift box.
“Mr. Sterling, this is a congratulatory gift for your engagement to Miss Winslow…”
The person hadn’t even finished speaking before Vincent snatched the box from his hands and threw it at me in front of everyone.
“Gemma, apologize to Sylvia. Otherwise, even if our Sterling family is not as powerful as the Winslow family, I refuse to go through with this marriage. I will never marry such a malicious woman!”
