Chapter 7
The once–tense atmosphere immediately fell into silence.
Cyrus took the ring from me, inspecting it closely, his face showing confusion. “I’ve never seen this before.”
“It was the gift I gave you when you left. We were classmates, and I gave it to you. You said you liked the candy ring. I went to the store to buy it, and I even wrote ‘Gemma‘ with a black pen on it.”
We stared at each other for a moment before looking back at Vincent, who had turned pale.
“Gemma, don’t deceive yourself. This ring was clearly on my desk, left by you. It was your way of proposing to me.”
Cyrus suddenly understood, a smile curving his lips.
“I remember now. We were desk mates a month before I transferred.”
It turned out that Vincent had misunderstood.
“Well, it’s lucky it eventually made its way back to me.”
He raised the ring in front of me, and I smiled as I slid it onto his finger.
Completely ignoring Vincent, who still held the bouquet of roses.
“Gemma, even if this ring wasn’t for me, it’s clear that all these years, you’ve loved me! I have many of your love messages on my phone. You can’t deny it!”
He said it with such certainty, even opening his phone to show me the messages I had once sent him.
But I only glanced at them quickly, not lingering on them.
“You’re right, I loved you for many years. But the moment you said you loved Sylvia, I stopped loving you.”
Vincent’s eyes lit up with sudden realization.
“It’s because of Sylvia… I understand now!”
He carefully placed the bouquet at my feet and turned to leave in large strides.
A few days later, the Rae family went bankrupt.
The Rae family had originally struck it rich through a lottery ticket, but they lacked business acumen or investment skills, and their company had always been losing money.
Added to that, Sylvia’s excessive spending had drained most of the lottery winnings
At first, I thought it was just Vincent taking over the Rae family’s business. But when Sylvia knelt before me, I realized it wasn’t that simple.
“Miss Winslow, I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have fought for you with him! Please, save my parents. Vincent has gone mad! He reported my father for tax evasion, and the amount is huge. He’ll be sentenced!”
pulled my fingers out of her tight grip.
“Take your pleas to Vincent.”
“But he’s doing this for you! One word from you and he’ll stop!”

Dreame–Read D.
“Is that so? But I remember that Mr. Sterling loved you, Sylvia, the most.”
Sylvia’s face turned ashen, her whole body shaking as she kneeled.
“Miss Winslow, I really know I was wrong. I promise I’ll never show up in front of you again. Please, make him stop!”
I stood, looking down at the girl who’d been my tormentor. “Miss Rae, it’s you who should stop haunting me. I’m engaged now. I’m about to start a new life. You and Vincent bothering me over and over again only makes it impossible for me to find peace.”
Sylvia reached for my pants, nearly begging me.
Before she could say more, Vincent appeared, pulling her away.
I had never seen him this furious before.
“You are nothing, who gave you the right to disturb Gemma!”
Sylvia bit her lip.
“Vincent, what can I do to make you let go of my father?”
“You made me lose Gemma. That’s your punishment.”
Vincent pushed Sylvia away and turned, his expression once again filled with sorrow.
“I’ve driven her away and avenged you, Gemma. Can you forgive me?”
Cyrus, who had been sitting not far away, couldn’t take it any longer. He waved to the bodyguards.
“Mr. Sterling kicked Miss Rae out, now I’m kicking you out. Seems fair enough.”
Vincent struggled violently. “Cyrus, this is Gemma’s home, what right do you have to kick me out?”
I was feeling a bit sleepy, yawning and leaning against him.
His shirt collar smelled faintly of sandalwood. I took a deep breath and felt even more drowsy.
“Just because Gemma is my fiancée. We’ll be getting our marriage certificate tomorrow, and the wedding will be next month.”
With that, he lifted me in his arms and carried me back to the room to rest.
Behind us, Vincent slammed into the door, producing an ear–splitting sound.
The bodyguards cursed quietly, then said, “Mr. Blackwood, he’s passed out.”
