Chapter 1
“Don’t drink ir!”
My son, the future Alpha of the pack, accidentally drank an entire bottle of wolfbane at his two–year–old birthday party. The bane took immediate ellect, and he collapsed on the ground, unconscious.
At that moment, Sebastian completely broke down.
He rushed out of the banquet hall, holding Jasper tightly, and ran like a maniac all the way to the pack doctor’s station, his Alpha aura causing everyone in his path to lower their heads.
Tears streamed down his face as he shouted orders, his voice raw with desperation: “Do whatever it takes to save my heir!”
Sadly, In the end, Jasper suffered neurological damage from ingesting highly concentrated wolfsbane, leaving him sluggish and unresponsive. He was diagnosed with no possibility of ever awakening his Alpha lineage.
As for me, his mother, I had been on my way to the pack doctor’s camp when I was deliberately caught in a staged car accident at the mountain forest’s border.
That night, I nearly died under the blood moon, barely clinging to life after a near–fatal ordeal.
Half a year later, one night, I accidentally overheard a conversation between Sebastian and his Beta, Damian, outside the study.
“Alpha, you’re cold–blooded. You can even harm your own son. When you ordered me to pour the wolfbane into Jasper’s cup, I really hesitated. “And Luna Marigold, she’s already been through hell, and you had to set her up in a car crash just to rip out her heart and give it to Celeste.” “That witch–forged heart only lasts five yea
years. After that, she’ll need another transplant. How could you doom her to a lifetime of surgeries and pain?
Sebastian’s voice was hoarse, low, but cold and unwavering: “1 have no other choice. Celeste took the risk of having a heart attack for me, secretly bearing my child. She can never be Luna She can never stand by my side openly. The only thing I can give her is to make her child the future Alpha heir of This pack.”
“As for Marigoid and Jasper, I’ll take care of them for life. As long as they’re alive and don’t pose a threat to Celeste and her son’s position, that will be enough”
Damian’s voice was tinged with pity when he spoke again.
‘Marigold’s body is already in a fragile state.
- e. Why at
are you still pushing her to donate blood to Celeste?”
There was a long pause before Sebastian sighed deeply.
“I don’t want to, but after Celeste had her heart transplant, her condition is still unstable. She told me the pack doctor said her heart isn’t getting mough blood. Maybe Marigold’s blood will help”
His voice carried a touch of guilt and helplessness.
Tears suddenly flooded my eyes as the memory rushed back–only recently, he’d gazed abe with tenderness and promised to take me to the hospital to “donate blood.” All for Jasper, he’d said. All for the future of our pack.
But after that surgery, I often fainted for no reason, coughed up blond, and my body grew weaker and weaker, yet I still couldn’t bring myself to retuse
He knew me too well, and he knew exactly how to touch the softest part of my heart
He said it was for our son and I foolishly believed halan.
–
Now I realized this wasn’t about helping our son. I had just been his living blood back for Celeste.
I clamped my mouth shut, trying to stifle the solis rising in my throat.
My heart was gone, yet my chest still achel like I couldn’t breathe. The bowl of oatmeal I’d so carefully cooked for him slipped from my shaking nds and shattered on the floor.
Shards of glass bit deep into my bare feet, blood curling along the arch in crimson threads–a sharp, grounding poin
But nothing hurt as much as the raw, rending agony in my hollow chest.
Footsteps approached from the study, and I forced myself to stop trembling, clutching my chest where the post–surgery wound still hadn’t fully healed
