A perfect family
Chapter 3
I forced myself to swallow the lump in my throat as I opened the chatting records.
The screen was filled with thousands of photos. All of them were Sebastian and Dorian, smiling together in every frame.
A flashback hit me, remembering when Jasper was just bom and I asked for a family photo.
He had casually brushed me off: “Jasper’s still so little, why take a family photo now? We’ll do it when he’s older!”
I naively thought he just didn’t like taking pictures, so I’d sneak a shot when he was deep asleep, holding Jasper close beside him
But now, I realized it wasn’t that he didn’t like photos.
He just didn’t like my child.
My fingers trembled as I scrolled through the images, but accidentally flipped to a video sent the night before Jasper’s birthday party.
Jasper was being pinned down by Celeste’s son, Dorian, bullying him.
In the video, I could hear Marigold’s voice, full of hurt: “Sebastian, Marigold’s son is already fighting back at such a young age. What’s going to happen when he gets older? What if he hurts our child?
“What should we do? I’m really worried!”
My body shook with anger, my grip on the phone almost slipping.
Jasper hadn’t done anything wrong. But because of one comment from Celeste, his entire life was ruined.
I bit down on my lip to control the rising hatred.
A man like him was so filthy and disgusting that I didn’t want him anymore.
My heart went cold as I threw the phone down. I called an old friend, the Alpha of a pack up north, asking him to take us in, to let us join his pack
After hearing about our situation, he agreed to help me find a hospital that could provide rehabilitation training.
When Sebastian returned to the hospital room, I had already booked train tickets for Jasper and the to leave in three days.
He didn’t notice my swollen, red eyes from crying. He grabhuuto–added to the Library
“Marigold, I want to throw a new birthday party for Jasper tomorrow.”
“I’ll announce that we’re adopting a child too. What do you think?”
1 froze for a moment, then remembered seeing a note on his calendar earlier.
Tomorrow was Dorian’s birthday the son of him and Celeste.
I didn’t say anything, just nodded stiffly.
Since we were leaving soon, I might as well treat it as a proper goodbye.
The next day, around noon, Sebastian sent someone to pick me up from the hospital.
As soon as I stepped into the pack house, I was struck by what I saw.
Celeste, dressed in a couture gown, was holding Dorian’s hand and greeting the guests alongside Sebastian
Meanwhile, Jesper was left unattended, playing by the swamp by the lake, covered in mud.
Sebastian didn’t spare him a glance. He didn’t even notice that Jasper had picked up a half–eaten hamburger someone had thrown eating it.
My eyes burned with fury. I rushed over and scooped Jasper up.
Before I could say anything, Sebastian grabbed my arm and pulled me into the lounge
away and was
“Marigold, there are a lot of Alphia and Luna from other packs here today. I’m worried that Jasper will be scared in this situation Why don’t you both stay here and rest for now?
Though he tried to hide it, I could see the disdain in his eyes.
I glanced toward the hallway. The lobby’s digital screen kept flashing through photos of him with Celeste and Dorian, one after another.
Dreame–Read De
The stage was piled with expensive gifts, but not a single one was for Jasper.
Even the glant cake had Dorian’s name on it, not Jasper’s.
Sebastian noticed where my gaze landed and suddenly seemed to realize how much he had messed up.
He pulled me into an awkward hug and tried to explain.
“Marigold, don’t get me wrong. Celeste can’t bear to part with her baby. Everything I’m doing is just to… to help her feel safe about letting us raise the child.”
I tried to force a smile, but it wouldn’t come.
He opened his mouth to say more when Celeste’s son barged in, wrapping his arms around his legs
- see!”
“Daddy, you said you had a lot of gifts for me, right? Let’s go s
up, heading off with him.
Sebastian didn’t even spare a glance for Jasper or me. He just smiled and picked Dorian up, hea
1 collapsed onto the couch, feeling utterly hopeless as I clutched Jasper to me.
By the time the party started, Sebastian still hadn’t come back. Realizing he wouldn’t be thinking about us, I stood up, ready to leave.
But before I could get far, Celeste appeared with her son, smiling sweetly, though her eyes held a challenge.
“Marigold, doesn’t it hurt to be abandoned like this?”
“Look at your son–how could he ever compare to my Dorian?”
“You know, I feel sorry for him. The other day, when they made him swallow wolfbane, he cried so badly. Damian’s hands were shaking, and in the end, it was Sebastian who had to do it.”
Even though you’re the Luna, your son still turned into an idiot under my will.
Her laughter echoed cruelly, and she didn’t try to hide her malice.
Trembling with rage, 1 bir my lip until it bled, barely holding back the fury that threatened to consume me.
But the next second, she suddenly grabbed her son and slapped him hard across the face.
Dorian’s face turned bright red and swollen, his cries filling the room, raw and heart–wrenching
Before I could react, Sebastian burst into the room.
His face twisted with fury as he rushed to Dorian, cradling him in his arms.
He glared at me with bloodshot eyes.
“Marigold, what the hell is wrong with you? Hitting such a small child!”
