Chapter 10
Earlier in three months…
“Let’s call it off,” Daniel declared to Amora.
The woman’s expression showed confusion while Daniel’s expression was blank. It seems
at his decision was not a big deal for him at all.
Amora placed the wine glass she was holding on the nearby table while keeping her gaze fixed on Daniel. She knew the reason behind the man’s sudden decision like this, but she still couldn’t understand why.
It was when Lilian broke up with Daniel when Amora started helping him. Even back then, she already liked Daniel, but she had great respect for his relationship with Lilian. But when she heard that they had finally broken up, that was when she presented herself to him.
Her confidence grew even more when Daniel had a hard time getting into college because, of the scandal that spread back then, which was the reason for his separation from Lilian. Amora’s family was wealthy, so she did everything to ensure Daniel could study medicine and graduate. And he succeeded, becoming a renowned doctor in various countries.
But when Apollo Carter, Amora’s dad, told her that he would only transfer the hospital named after Amora to Daniel once they got married, Amora was so eager to the point that she even proposed to the man and made it seem like Daniel wanted everything.
Even though she knew that until now, Daniel still loved Lilian.
Amora swallowed the pain that was lodged in her throat. Daniel was just staring straight at
her. He had just come from work, and the man’s eyes showed signs of extreme fatigue.
“Can we talk about it? I’ll give you a good deal, Dan-”
“No, Amora. Let’s call off the engagement. We both knew from the start this was purely business,” Daniel interrupted, cutting her off.
“But what about the hospital? Are you no longer interested? Your position as medical

director–just one more month, and you’ll be CEO, Daniel. Why are you suddenly throwing it all away?” Amora blurted out, sounding desperate and making herself look foolish.
Daniel’s jaw clenched. He violently took off his necktie and threw it somewhere. Instead of answering her, he marched towards their room, so she immediately followed him. She found him there looking for clothes in the closet.
“Daniel, I’m still talking to you!” she shouted, grabbing his arm and forcing him to face her.

aniel’s sharp gaze cut straight through Amora’s soul, causing her to take an involuntary step back. It was the first time she had ever seen him react this way toward her.
“I’m not interested in those things anymore,” he said coldly. “But if your father considers that I was the one who helped grow and establish that hospital’s reputation, I’ll still accept the position. Just not with your help, Amora,” he finished, his tone final and detached. Then, he turned his back on her once again.
Amora was just staring at Daniel while he was putting on his clothes. Her forehead furrowed when she noticed that he was still wearing his going–out clothes instead of something for home.
“Where are you going? I cooked our dinner, Daniel. You promised to stay tonight.”
“I’ve already eaten. Eat if you want to eat. I’ll go ahead,” he said harshly to her and walked past her.
Amora’s anger and resentment flared even more. She quickly chased after Daniel. She found him at the door of their unit, so she violently pulled him by the arm.
“Is this all because of that woman? Her again? You’re throwing everything away for her?” Amora asked, her voice filled with bitterness and resentment.
Daniel quickly averted his gaze, causing her heart to break even more. Right then, Amora already knew the answer, but she still wanted to believe otherwise.
“Stop it, Amora. You know what my answer will be to those questions,” Daniel replied firmly, then opened the door and slammed it shut.
Amora blinked twice. She had prayed hundreds of times that this day would never come, but she still failed.

Meanwhile, Lilian was staring blankly at herself in front of the mirror. She twirled around just to see her dress properly. It’s as if she’s looking at the old Lilian. The Lilian who disappeared when she married Jacob.
This is already the second week of her preparation for her return. She still couldn’t figure out how Daniel convinced her of this idea, but here she was, and it seemed like her appearance was changing.
“Ma’am Lilian, are you ready? Ms. Liv is already inside,” Patty, Daniel’s assistant, asked. Daniel had specifically assigned Patty to assist her.
Lilian took a moment to compose herself before following Patty.
“Is she strict? And what time is your Sir Daniel supposed to arrive?” Lilian asked, glancing occasionally at the watch on her wrist.
“He’s on his way too, Ma’am, just stuck in traffic. Ms. Liv is kind. Don’t worry, I already gave
your sample designs in advance. I’m sure she’ll like all of them,” she replied with a grin.
Lilian nodded. Somehow, her spirits lifted at what Patty said.
While walking, her gaze shifted to the large window in the hallway of the building where she was now. This is the tower of Olivia Monroe, the famous designer worldwide. Lilian had always dreamed of becoming a famous designer, but she couldn’t pursue it because of
financial constraints.
That’s why when Daniel told her that he knew Olivia Monroe and immediately asked her for sample designs, she was overjoyed.
From the fourth floor, where Lilian stood, she had a clear view of Daniel’s car pulling up. He quickly stepped out, and for a moment, she found herself staring. Daniel was undeniably a handsome man. Even back in their school days, many girls were drawn to him, only to give up quickly because of his cold demeanor.
“Dr. Martin is really handsome, isn’t he? Too bad he’s about to marry Ms. Amora,” Patty commented beside her, making Lilian click her tongue in mild frustration.
“Huh?”
“But you know, Ma’am,” Patty continued, “there’s been talk around the hospital for a while

now that his engagement to Ms, Amora is purely business. You still have a chance with
him.”
Lilian frowned at the comment, clearly unimpressed.
Lilian didn’t pay any more attention to that and proceeded to Olivia Monroe’s office. When they entered, the woman immediately fixed her gaze on her. She didn’t know what to notice first; her beauty or her piercing gaze.
sood afternoon, Ms. Liv. This is Lilian Lewis, the owner of the designs I gave you earlier,”
Patty introduced.
“Who is she? And why is she only showing up now?” Olivia Monroe blurted out, her tone
sharp and accusatory.
Lilian blinked, stunned by the sudden outburst. Olivia’s glare grew even colder, and if looks could kill, Lilian knew she would have already collapsed on the spot.
