The moment those three possibilities formed in his mind, he instinctively ruled out acceptance. Ellis would most likely blow up at him first, then reject him.
After all, she didn’t seem the least bit interested in getting back together with him.

Without a second thought, he dialed Ellis‘ number from a new phone. On the other side of the world, Ellis was basking in the sun, thoroughly enjoying her time.
Her phone rang. Seeing an unfamiliar number from Stonebridge, she hesitated for a moment. There was no contact name saved, so she wasn’t sure if it was someone she knew. But since she was in a good mood, she decided to pick up
“Hello.” That simple, indifferent greeting reached Easton’s cars like the sweetest melody. In that inoment, the exhaustion from lus insomnia and the ache of longing both eased just a little.

Ellis wasn’t sure how to turn him down at first, but after discussing it with Maya, she knew exactly what to do–ignore him and pretend she never saw his messages..
Whatever Easton’s reasons were, one thing was certain… He wasn’t asking for a remarriage out of love. So why should she even bother responding?
