No sooner had Morty left than Zion called him back, ligt Morty wasn’t foolish enough to go back for a second scolding. Easton ignored his commands, which lispleased Zion. He’s really grown too big for his britches!
Unfortunately, Zion couldn’t find a way to make Easton comply.
Back when Easton was a minor, Zion could cut off his hancial support, forcing him to fall in line.
Now, nearly a decade since Easton came of age, he had grown independent, owning his own business ventures and plenty of real estate. Even kicking Easton out of the Nexus Group wouldn’t affect his lifestyle.
Suddenly, Zion was struck by a headache. Since I could resolve the issue with Morty, perhaps he could deal with

Inspired, Zion sent someone to find Ellis and have a thorough chat with her.
However, the person he sent returned with unexpected news. “Mr. Morty, Ellis isn’t in Stonebridge.”
“Where is she then?”
Kyrador.”
Zion thought for a moment. “Go to Kyrador and talk to her in person, subtly convey my message.”
“Yes, Mr. Morty.”
After breakfast, Ellis went to explore the old town as planned.
But unbeknownst to her, someone from Stonebridge was on their way to find her.
When she returned to the hotel from the old town, feeling delighted, she was greeted at the door by a very professionally dressed young woman, obviously waiting for her.
The person who complained yesterday about me keeping them awake, could they be complaining again? I even changed
rooms!
Before the other woman could speak, Ellis took the initiative. “Just because someone complains doesn’t mean they’re right. Can’t your hotel just move that person to the top floor?”
There’s no one above the top floor, surely they can’t still complain?
“Ms. Harper, you misunderstand, I’m not hotel staff, the young woman said with a slight smile.
“Then who are you?” Instantly, Ellis thought of her annoying ex–husband, and her guard went up against the young woman, suspecting she might be sent by Easton.
Can’t he leave me alone? I’m on vacation to clear my head, and he’s still haunting me?
“I’m a secretary from the Nexus Group. The young woman handed her a business card.
“You’re Morty’s secretary?” Ellis asked, not looking at the card, instinctively assuming the woman was Morty’s emissary.

Ellis quickly looked down at the business card.
It read Kelly, Executive Secretary to the CEO, Nexus Group.”
Her wariness fading. Ellis looked up at Kelly. “What briggs you here?”

This wasn’t Stonebridge. The trip from Stonebridge took three hours by flight alone, not counting other transportation. Someone coming all this way for no reason was hard to believe.
“Can we talk inside?” Kelly gestured towards the door.
Ellis held back a cold stare. “There’s a cafe downstairs
Losing her wariness of Kelly didn’t mean she was naive Being alone in a closed space with a stranger could be dangerous!
Kelly followed Ellis to the café and sat down.
Facing each other. Ellis cut to the chase. “So, what does Zion want with me?”
Ms. Harper, let me start with one thing,” Kelly paused. “Our company might end our partnership with yours, because of some manipulations by your ex–husband.”
Ellis was speechless. What does Easton’s meddling have to do with me? Does Nexus Group think contacting me will smooth things over with the Tate Group?
“Mr. Morty’s feelings for you are also known to Mr. Zion,” Kelly continued.
Ellis rubbed her forehead.
Two sentences in, and it’s clear what Kelly’s really here for.
“So what exactly does Mr. Zion want? Get to the point; don’t have time for roundabouts. I need to get back to my room, take a bath, and unwind after a day’s outing.”
“Please, Ms. Harper, avoid contact with Mr. Morty in the future. He’s not worthy of you,” Kelly said delicately.
For a moment, Ellis was silent, unable to think of anything to say.
If I were to speak my mind, I’d swear. What is this nonsense? rarely initiate contact with Morty, it’s always him approaching me.
Zion couldn’t handle his own issues with Morty, so he is trying to sort me out?
To put it bluntly and heartlessly, whatever Easton was up to was Zion’s own doing.
“I think Mr. Zion is missing something!” She cleared her throat and spoke emphatically, “I’ve been avoiding Morty for a while now. I don’t like him; in fact I despise him.”
If I were to ever like Morty, it would’ve happened long ago. Not after divorcing Easton and bumping into Morty here
and there.
