Chapter 108
Maxine instinctively leaned to the side, worried the two people downstairs might spot her.
“What’s up with you?” Cleo asked, a little confused by her sudden move.
Maxine slowly sat up straight again and glanced at the father and son below. Cleo followed her gaze, her expression turning a bit sly. “Sebastian, she said.
She stretched her neck to get a better look downstairs. “What are those two up to?”
Maxine looked away. Whatever those two were doing had nothing to do with her. She felt that maybe they were just out with someone else.
Even so, she couldn’t help sneaking another glance down. And just then, she caught Brian looking right up in her direction.
Maxine’s heart skipped a beat. She bit her lip but didn’t bother to hide. She felt that there was no way they’d recognize her from this far away.
But then Brian suddenly pointed right at her and said something. Sebastian looked up too.
“Cleo,” Maxine muttered.
Cleo, sitting across from her, looked up in confusion. Maxine lowered her voice, “Are you done eating? Should we head out now?”
Cleo looked at her, then at the table full of food, clearly reluctant. “Why? The food’s so good…”
Maxine glanced out the window. The father and son who’d been standing there were gone. They must’d left. She relaxed. “Never mind, it’s fine. Go ahead
and eat.”
Cleo shrugged. “What’s up with you today? Urban’s coming to pick us up anyway, so leaving early won’t change anything.”
But it didn’t take long for her to figure out why Maxine had been in such a hurry to leave.
Five minutes later, two people showed up right next to their table.
Sebastian, completely straight–faced, brought Brian over and greeted them. “Well, what a coincidence. You’re here too.”
With a loud clatter, the chicken drumstick Cleo was eating dropped onto her plate. She instinctively glanced at Maxine.
Seeing that Maxine didn’t even spare them a look, Cleo quickly set down her fork and greeted them, “Yeah! What brings you guys here?”
Honestly, these two showing up here was pretty weird, especially Brian. He was so picky that he’d never usually be caught dead in a place like Century Square.
Sebastian explained, “It’s a parent–child assignment from school.”
After that, he eyed the food on the table and turned to Maxine. “Mind if we sit here?”
He had a feeling that if he didn’t speak up, Maxine would probably just tell them to leave.
Brian stared seriously at the food on the table. He didn’t say a word, but his eyes said it all.
Maxine scooted over, and Cleo moved her shopping bags off the bench to make room. Then Sebastian and Brian squeezed onto the bench with Maxine.
She thought, ‘If this keeps up, I might just lose it.‘
Maxine noticed both Sebastian and Brian were dressed in suits, and Brian’s hair looked like he’d actually put some effort into it.
After thanking the waiter who brought over the utensils, Sebastian turned to Maxine and said, “Are you free tonight? There’s a networking event later,

Want to come with us?”
Before he even finished, Cleo sprayed juice all over the table and burst into a coughing fit, earning a look of mild disgust from Brian.
