Chapter 123
Just like he promised, Sebastian found a great tutor for Jessica.
The tutor was an elderly woman who had already retired. During a casual chat, Maxine found out she used to be a professor at a university. After retiring a few years ago, she got bored at home, and when she happened to hear that Sebastian had a child who needed tutoring, she thought she’d come over to keep herself busy.
Her name was Ellen Herrera. She always spoke with a warm, smiling gaze and seemed incredibly kind. She patted Maxine on the hand and said, “Jessica is such a thoughtful and bright girl. If you nurture her well, she’ll really go far.”
Maxine smiled back at her. “Thank you so much.”
Jessica’s situation made Maxine realize something. People like Mona wouldn’t just back off if she ignored them. In fact, a warning only made them
double down.
Maxine quickly drafted a statement, set up an account, and posted it on her homepage.
She left out the stuff about her dad from back then, but laid out everything that had happened over the years, including the details she’d uncovered about Mona’s debts and whò she owed money to.
Since Mona wasn’t leaving her any way out, Maxine figured, ‘Fine, let’s just drop all pretenses.‘
As soon as her post went up, comments and shares started pouring in. People argued over who was lying, and some even claimed the whole thing was just a stunt for attention.
Maxine replied to one of the comments: [The dispute between Mrs. Parks and me is already with the police. I hope everyone can look at this rationally.]
Some people accused her of faking it, but Maxine didn’t care.
This was just the first step in dealing with Mona. As for the noise from the haters, it didn’t bother her. Jessica’s passport was already sorted, and once the case with Ivanna was over, she’d be heading abroad.
But before that, there was still one more thing she needed to do.
It had been over a month since Maxine submitted her resignation. Once she finished the process, she’d finally be done with that place for good.
But just like last time, Rayden Robinson still wasn’t at the firm. The other lawyers said he’d gone on a business trip a couple of days ago and hadn’t come back yet.
Maxine took a walk around the office, spotted her resignation letter still sitting on the desk, let her thoughts wander for a moment, then turned and left Rayden’s office.
As she was about to leave the firm, a young colleague she was close with called out, “Maxine, are you here to see Rayden again?”
Maxine replied, “I wanted to get my resignation sorted, but he’s never around.”
The girl lowered her voice and said, “Rayden hasn’t been in the office these days. None of us can get in touch with him. If you don’t mind the trouble, you could try Patrick. He might be able to help you with the paperwork directly.”
Maybe she’d heard something, which was why she came over to give Maxine a heads–up.
Maxine smiled. “Thank you. If you ever need anything, just let me know.”
Rayden probably gave everyone a heads–up. For this girl to come and remind her in this situation, she was already way better than most people.
Her colleague gave a shy smile. “It’s nothing, Maxine. You’ve helped me out a lot before. I’m just happy I could return the favor.”

Chapter 123
Patrick seemed to be on vacation lately. He was almost at retirement age, and most of the firm’s business was usually handled by aydeen bal a figured it was worth going to see him in person if needed.
A day later, Maxine’s flight landed at Pilturg. She didn’t waste any time. Right after landing, she booked a car and headed straight to the resort where Patrick was staying.
