Chapter 135
Ever since that day Brian came home, he’s been holed up in his room.
The nanny, who’d practically watched him grow up, felt bad for him and kept bringing meals to his door, but she knew this wasn’t a long term sections.
The butler wanted Sebastian to step in, but Sebastian just shrugged it off. “He made a huge mistake. Honestly, he’s lucky no one’s blaming him. Lettin him stay in his room and think things over for a few days is the least he can do.”
As Sebastian walked downstairs, the butler followed behind, looking worried. He wanted to say, “But he’s still just a kid. In the end, he kept his mouth shut.
Maxine had been busy organizing evidence for Kathleen’s case. Cleo could tell she hadn’t been in a great mood lately, so she’d been taking Jessica out to play after school every day, just to give Maxine some space to cool off.
Maxine threw herself into work, hoping to bring a few new recruits with her when she went abroad and finally pay back the favor the owed Urban. On her busiest days, she was so swamped she didn’t even have time to eat.
Frowning, Maxine pointed at the documents in front of her. “Have the plaintiff bring over the contract they signed back then. We’ll talk about everything else after that.”
Her phone rang. It was Sebastian calling.
Maxine answered, her tone flat. “What’s up?”
Ever since they’d parted ways at the courthouse, they hadn’t been in touch. Hearing the chill in her voice, Sebastian paused, suddenly feeling like he was getting dragged into this because of Brian.
He hesitated, unsure if he should bring up Kathleen.
The silence on the other end made Maxine frown. “Hello?”
Sebastian paused for a moment. “Do you have time? I’d like to see you.”
Maxine didn’t bother asking what it was about. “I get off at seven. Come by then.”
After work, Maxine packed up her things and walked out of the office. Sebastian’s car was parked right at the entrance, and he gave a quick honk when
he saw her.
She got into the passenger seat and buckled her seatbelt. “What do you want? Just say it here. I have to pick up Jessica soon.”
Jessica had been busy with a school training program these days and wouldn’t get out until eight or nine. That gave them just enough time to talk.
Seeing how firm she was, Sebastian could only say, “It’s about Kathleen.”
Maxine immediately understood why he was here. “I sued her, and now she’s got you coming to plead her case?”
Sebastian didn’t deny it. Maxine let out a cold laugh, pulled out her phone, and tossed it onto his lap. “Go ahead, take a look at all the disgusting things your ‘good friend‘ has done.”
She really put emphasis on the words “good friend.”
Sebastian picked up the phone. Maxine had laid everything out in detail, from Kathleen teaming up with Gabriel to destroy evidence i bribing Rayden to trip up other people.

Maxine sneered, “And let’s not forget, when I was helping Ivanna with her case, she talked Brian into stealing the evidence. If I hadn’t backed it up ahead

Sebastian’s grip on the phone tightened.
Maxine spelled it out for him, “Gabriel would‘

family business and live happily ever after.”
Her voice was calm, almost like she was just telling a story. “And Kathleen? She was his accomplice, took whatever Gabriel gave her. Just in the past few days, she’s already helped him out of a bunch of lawsuits. Want to see for yourself?”
